Mod help please

I downloaded a mod but being the computer illiterate that I am, I don't know how to use it on my game from a zip file. Please help. Thanks

well a good place to start off might be.... which mod is it? does it have a readme.txt in the *.zip or anything like that? if it does, it might be a good idea to follow its directions, if not... eh
