Modding NPCS for Fallout 1

Yo, I'm a real noob when it comes to modding, but my friend Rama gave me the editor as well as collection of utilities, now, I am playing Fallout 1 and I wanted to know if there was a way I could modify Ian, Tycho, Dogmeat and Katja... and perhaps even add a new NPC?

Is it possible? Just lead me in the direction...

yes, it IS possible! I did it myself a long time ago in my JonaMod for FO1 ....

I used FUCK and a little Trick, which I do not remember any more....

Okay, I know the FUCK utility had something to do with it, but I may have to dig deep to find it...

Extract the critter prototype and open it with a hex editor, you need to add 4 or 8 bytes of zeros at the end of the file (I think is the later : 00 00 00 00 | 00 00 00 00) or FUCK will not open the prototype.
Once you finish editing with Fuck, open it again in the hex editor and delete the zeros you added and place it in fallout/data/proto/critters.
 
Thanks... I know it must be a task to guide noobs in the art of modding, but we all have to learn somehow, right?
