modding vs. FO2 editor

Hey there,

Is there a difference between modding and using the FO2 editor? If not, can someone point me to an FO2 editor guide that supplements the one that comes with it?

I can't rally give you a good answer cause you can use the FO2 mapper to make maps and protos but for scripting you will need to look up something else.
