Just something on my mind: we know where Miroslav is, Odin has been updating the site, and Roshambo and Xotor have been posting, but WHERE THE HELL HAVE SHADOWMAN AND KHARN GONE?!? Sorry, I've got an adreneline overload in progress. Just wondering...

Kharn lost interest a while ago... Shadowman is still here, but doesn't comment as much as before...

Kharn hangs out at the Order, now, but I don't care for him any more. His senseless America-bashing is really out of hand. For some reason, Capone still trys to argue with him about it, though...

Maybe he's still disgruntled over this thread: http://www.nma-fallout.com/cgi-bin/forum/ForumID2/760.shtml

He left right after that. I guess he didn't like being told that his nation really wasn't all that.

People who bash on the USA have usually never lived here. We are the land of the free, and sometimes too free. For a nation that is over 275 million strong and only ~200 years old, we've done a damned good job. Many of its inefficiencies are looked upon by nations that do not have the shear number of people we do. China may be one to balk, but then again, they run a wholly different scheme of things.

Yeah, not to mention that we really *could* pull back the volunteer forces and other organizations that are helping people in other countries. I guess we should require countries to pay back their debts to the US instead of just shrugging them off. I guess we should just look out for Number One and not care about anyone else.

That way, we can't be accused of 'meddling' or other crap.

Well I must admit I have been neglecting these forums a bit lately. Arcanum has taken up a lot of my time and there have been some other boards I've been paying more attention to. But since I finally beat that game starting now I'm back in full effect. :-)

This Is Weird...

Even before I opened up this thread I noticed new posts from Shadowman... spooky...

"Wouldn't It Be Nice If Everyone Would Just Die?"

RE: Yep

I`ve seen Shadowman a lot in other boards, it`s good he`s back.

Kharn spends a lot of time in AOF and joined The Illuminati.

I totally forgot about Groovelicious, glad he´s not here anymore though ;-)

Not this crap again

Sorry, if that sounded somewhat insulting but can't we just agree that neither country has a fullproof system and that we should try to learn from each other. Sure, the US has it's good points but also has it's share of bad ones so do the European countries. Let's at least look at what other countries have to offer and not bash each other and, very important, not close our eyes to the rest of the world because the rest of the world might have something worthwhile. Sorry, just had to say this. I am from Europe too and allthough i do not agree with Kharns words in that thread, i do see that, mostely, Americans have a way of looking at their country as the best in the world at everything which can't be correct. Some other countries might have something that is even better then what the US has.

Exactly:

There is no 'best country'.

Never was, never will be. First lesson in sociology is that every society has it's good points and bad. Learn from both.

Personally, I think that several aspects of the US are pretty fucked up. Namely the OJ trials. Enough said.

But even so, we do try to help the less fortunate. Hell, even when we get into a war and essentially crush a country's military like Japan, we rebuild them and provide aid to a good degree.

But again, every one has their good and bad points. It would be foolish to not recognise that.

zero-x's bitter words after his encounter with roshambo:

But many people have yet to realize that there is no other nation on the planet that semi-equivalent in size or complexity. Yeah, maybe the Netherlands's government may *seem* more efficient, but then again the Netherlands has a population smaller than the state of New York's. I roll my eyes every time people start boasting about their government and methods for managing their people in comparison to the United States. Their countries simply do not have to deal with the same things as us.

Take for instance cultural diversity. The United States IS the melting pot of the world. To be an American means SOLELY that you are a resident of the United States. In other countries it means you are part of a culture. Moving over country boundaries means you change languages, culture, and often religious dominance. With such uniformity comes stability and alike-thinking. Such governments are far easier to handle than a diverse climate like the United States where there are many conflicts of interest.

Are we the best? No, no country is. Are we doing a damned good job at what we're doing, for what we're doing? I'd say yes, maybe the best job possible.

Hey, we tried isolationalism for a long time, and look what Europe did with itself: Two world wars. Who got Europe out of those wars? We did.

If we stay out of international conflicts people in other countries will complain that we're not using our position to better the world. If we take part in international conflicts, we're accused of meddling. We can't win.
