Multiplayer "game points" bug

Mikka

First time out of the vault
Hi all,

When I install the game from scratch, it's version 1.13, I believe, and multiplayer game points work just fine. If I set game points (GP) to 10000, points decrement as I add chars to my squad. But when I installed the latest v1.27 patch, the GP don't decrement anymore!! Now, if I set GP to 10000, I can add six 10000 GP worth chars to my squad. Is this a bug? Does anyone know what's the problem and how to fix it?

Thanks!

It's not a bug but an intentional change.

1.27 Patch Readme said:
- Changed point limit to apply per character not per team. This should sort out
the major imbalance when players took one super character instead of a squad.

That changes the game a lot, that is, it was one major change, but it's relieving to know that it's not a bug.

Anyway, I prefer the old, Incubation-style equipment (game) points system. It was up to them to balance the game. If I remember, Incubation was balanced good. It's kinda stupid if I set GP to 10K and then everybody plays with six chars, each worth 10K GP. Where's strategy and tactics in that?! Just select the most expensive ones! It's far better if GP decrements by adding chars to one's squad. OK, so a player might select one 10K worth GP char, and the other player could select a less worth medic and five other chars, but that player could set up an ambush, or sth like that, so I don't see why the player with only one char should win so easily. I don't know. Maybe FOT isn't that balanced, but in Incubation, I believe that situation in which one char could kill a whole squad can't happen (only if you select a bunch of those weak marines, anyway)

So, if there's Fallout 3, this option definitely must prevail (not to mention that questionable CTB mode-that must be improved somehow, definitely). And now, I could go on and on... :), but that's for another topic.

Vault City prevails, Citizen
