Music in the Multiverse

First time out of the vault
Hello Fallout Community :)

I have an important special request:

here's the story... I am an ethnomusicology student currently doing research on music in video games. What I need are people who are interested in talking about their opinions on game music who will be willing to take a little bit of time and check out this survey:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XV7FLKR

I know that it is a pain to do any sort of survey, and I understand not wanting to take the time necessary to write this stuff, but listen.... any help that I can get from you guys is monumental to this project, in more ways than you realize. Yes, it is an assignment for school, but more importantly, the information you provide is fascinating to me personally, and I take great care to read and appreciate everything that I receive.

If music in video games is important to you... please please please take a few minutes and tell me why!

If you have any questions or troubles with the survey... or just want to continue conversation on the topic, please respond to this thread

Thank you to everyone who takes a little time to check this out... it really does mean a lot!

Great survey, though you might consider clarifying a few of the longer questions, such as the one about culture traits.

Thank you guys for the feedback

I know some of the longer questions are a bit wordy and complicated.... it is because some of the questions I am asking a maybe too specific.

To help clarify for anyone who has not yet done it, I am investigating music used in games to help describe environments artistically. An example that I would use to describe that in about as obvious a way as possible is Zelda Ocarina of Time, which has pieces of music for: Forests, Volcanoes, Lakes, etc.

Fallout however takes a totally different view for this, and allows the player to make most of the musical decisions for themselves in the wasteland. This has a totally different effect, while still holding the same role as 'environmental composition' since, the music of the whole game still fits the aesthetic that the environment creates around you visually.

Thus, the two tough questions to answer in the survey are primarily the one asking about culture (which is a general question, i.e. any sign of culture in a game is an interesting one to bring up). And secondly the one about 'environmental music' in which I am asking whether or not there are games that you have played that exhibit this concept I described above, and what example from the game makes that impact.

Hope that helps... and thank you to everyone who is taking some time to help out with this survey!!
