Music issues Fallout 2

Ergophobe

First time out of the vault
Hello , I have been playing fallout 2 for about 2-3 weeks, using Killap's unofficial patch (the reason this is posted in the modding section) anyway it took a while but i noticed the game had no music, i checked the music folder in my game files and it was empty, probably due to the fact i made a few copies of my favourite game music and i must have cut accidentally deleted the music when i intended to copy it. To remedy the situation downloaded the F2 soundtrack from this very website. I tried simply putting the music tracks in the music folder but nothing happened, help would be welcome. Please be polite and if i have posted this in the wrong place, of in the wrong way just inform me, i am still new to the whole forum setting.

You can check your fallout2.cfg for these two lines:
music_path1=data\sound\music\
music_path2=sound\music\

See if they point to the correct path.

go to (InstallFolder)/data/sound/music
copy/cut all music files
Then go to (InstallFolder)/sound/music
and paste all the music files into this folder

Or like Nova said
use the fallout2.cfg and make sure they are being directed to where the music actually is.

Those are the only two solutions I'm aware of, this has happened to me before. (If installed from a disk and the music itself is missing all together, you can copy it from the disk)

I checked the cfg files and the two lines were blank, I tried replacing them with the lines Novarain suggested, there seemed to be no change.Also installfolder/soud/music has all the music tracks already.

Thanks for all the suggestions by the way.

Iv'e tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked, but one thing did occur to me, my fallout 2 music files are mp3 ( not sure why), I checked fallout 1 and the music is in acm files. I'm not sure if it has any bearing on the problem though.

Fallout tracks must exist in ACM format in order to play in the game.

The easiest thing to do is to install the game on a different machine [or in a different folder] and copy the ACM files to your main [modded] install's music folder.

_____

*Alternatively... it is possible to convert the MP3s to ACM files using tools in the downloads section.

Okay good to know that, getting the music files into acm should be no problem, thanks everyone for the help.
