Hey Everybody!!! Happy here, deciding to stir everyone out of their conflicting feeling about the fate of the Fallout Series to bring you a nice, happy, music survey!!! I know this sounds really annoying, but I won’t be able to see the disgusted looks on your face when you read my post, so HA!!! Sorry, I’ll stop using the exclamation marks. Well anyway, I looked back at one of my earlier musical lists, and discovered that I kinda messed up So, as I favor to you, I’ll be correcting them. Well anyway, as the subject title says, this is a music survey, so just cut and paste the categories, and Wa-La! (Seeing as how the exclamation mark was not used as punctuation, I still didn’t break my promise, so take that world!!!), you’re ready to type in the band, song, prank-phone call, etc. of your choice!!! So without further ado, my new music poll, with crappy excuses for my mistakes:

Favorite Bands (In no particular order)/ Favorite Songs (From Band)

Nirvana / Sliver
The Clash / Death or Glory
Joy Division/ Love Will Tear Us Apart
The Dead Kennedys/ Holidays in Cambodia
R.E.M./ Losing My Religion

Pretty Biased, huh? Well, I looked at my 5 Best Alternative Bands List, and it looks like I made some mistakes. First off, I guess I made The Dead Kennedys about 5 spaces too high, and R.E.M. a space to low. As for my favorite song by Nirvana not being Smells Like Teen Spirit (as it had before), people can change minds, can’t they?

Updated Favorite Songs List

1. Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
2. Anarchy in the U.K – The Sex Pistols
3. One of my turns – Pink Floyd
4. A Day in the Life – the Beatles
5. Sympathy for the Devil – the Rolling Stones
6. Death or Glory – The Clash
7. Holidays in Cambodia – Dead Kennedys
8. Sliver- Nirvana
9. Over the Hills and Far Away - Led Zeppelin
10. 1979- The Smashing Pumpkins

Now I know that I said that I hated the Smashing Pumpkins (still do actually), but I still put 1979 on the list. Why? You don’t really need to be good band to make a good song. As for dropping November Rain from the list, I decided that after listening to the WHOLE song (which was WAY worse than the video cut) that it would be better off around 97 on my imaginary favorite 100 list (Jeez, these damn top 10 lists are hard enough to make).

There it is!!! Remember people, this is a music SURVEY. So remember folks, post your favorite bands and songs!!! For the community, people, community!!!

“Uh-oh”

And next on the love/hate relationship series...

Well, I guess HATE is too strong a word to be associated with any music. I guess the one thing that turns me off about Good Ol' Billy and the Pumpkins is Billy Corgan's voice. Jeez!!! After flipping through the channels and seeing them on MTV and their great, happy video for "Today", I immediately rushed toward mainstream radio on my stereo (which was about 5 feet next to me at the time) and went a camping out for songs. Think that's strange? Not in the early to mid 90's, but that's a different story. Finally, luck held out and out came The Pumpkins... and Zero. Crap!!! What's that coming out from the speaker? “Emptiness is loneliness"? That lyrics been burned in my head forever!!! Well anyway, their softer songs are really great. I guess hating the Smashing Pumpkins all started from going to the Music Junkies Anonymous Web Page. Scrolling down on their band ratings I saw this, Alice In Chains: 3; Pearl Jam:3; The Smashing Pumpkins: 3; Nirvana: ...2 (no, the dots weren't there) After seeing this, I developed a super jealously of Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins, seeing as how no one likes their favorite bands being rated really low, I started hating Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins. Looks like I'm finally gonna be recovering from the Smashing Pumpkins hatred, but buddy, that Pearl Jam hate is gonna be here for a LOOONNGG time. Ten, 5 stars? Not likely!!! Well, my first step to recovery is going to be going to CDNOW and listening to “Zero” over and over again till I get used to that voice. Anyway, I hate to include so much doom and gloom in this post, so how about some happiness?

How about those Blind Melon guys? Mark my words, they'll go far!!!

RE: And next on the love/hate relationship series...

I'm not even going to comment on whether bands suck or not... I tend to regret my words and actions when I get drawn into music arguements, so I'll just put in my top 10.

4 Nirvana - Polly

Far? I don't think so. The singer died choking on his own puke and the band quit. "No rain" is one of my favorite songs, but I haven't heard it in ages.
As for Corgan's voice, I can see where you're coming from. He does have a whiny voice, but if you manage to get passed that you'll discover they have many great songs.

I guess another one of my inventions goes back to the drawin

About that Blind Melon remark, I was trying to invent a happy type of sarcasm, one where everyone could smile at. Oh well... I'd explain myself, but that would destroy all meaning of this post. As for the Smashing Pumpkins, I borrowed a bunch of CD's from a friend (Thank You Gods of Public Transportation!!!) and I guess it looks like I have to eat my words (wasn't that phrase offensive during a time?) and his voice works really well on songs like "Disarm" and some of the songs on "Mellon Collie..." (Sorry, I don't type any titles with more that 6 words) Anyway, send me get-well-cards, ‘cause I got a cold. Early mornings be damned!!!

Now, that's only if forced to choose... I'd probably include some Louis Armstrong, Tennesee Ernie Ford, some Blumchen, some Smash Mouth, some Korn, some Xzibit, more or less the gamut of tracks from Dance Dance Revolution, and more-- when it comes to tastes in music, I'm pretty eclectic. You name it, I've got the MP3, or wouldn't mind having it.

I'm currently into the Geinoh Yamashirogumi, a large choral group that created the soundtrack to the anime movie Akira. I spent $317(USD) to import twelve CDs made by them from Japan, and I'm quite impressed. The quality is much better than the copies I downloaded off Napster (which, BTW are extremely rare to find even on Napster). They have a very unique sound and quality to their works that I have not heard in other groups. For instance, the goal of the work is only the final sound, not the method it was produced, so the composer will deviate from traditional choral groups by using electronic enhancements and effects to perfect the sound of the piece. It isn't techno, but rather enlightened choral music.

I also like the Beatles. They produce some really classic music, and I've got practically every song they've written on my computer from a CD my friend gave me (like 500+ files). There is a huge variety of styles the Beatles, and I personally like the later pieces the Beatles wrote. The "Let it Be" album is very well composed.

I am also fond of Frank Klepacki's Command and Conquer soundtracks, especially the first C&C soundtrack which I think is his finest work. The music sounds modern but not cheap like most techno, and voices different styles in each song. The tracks don't drag on or contain unnecessary repeats and each piece has a theme to it. For instance, the track, "No Mercy" on the Tiberian Dawn soundtrack has a militaristic fascist sound to it, while a track like "Just Do It" has a more modern techo appeal to it which emphasizes propaganda. I only have the CDs from Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert. I think Klepacki's work has gone downhill slightly after those two works, though there are some tracks that are really well composed like "Pharotek" on the Tiberian Sun track (which I grabbed off of Napster).

I downloaded the Chrono Trigger Original Sound Track (OST) off of Napster recently to trade to a guy so I could get leech access off his FTP server (good trade). Those songs bring back some good memories of that game, and I am surprised at how well the emulator actually renders the music.

I'm not all that into the music produced by today's groups. I've got a few songs by them, but usually that's all that's worth downloading. Even groups that I thought had a good sound when I heard their songs suck when it comes to the other songs on their CDs. I think music nowadays is basically bad, and if all the new music produced after 1993 were thrown away, I probably wouldn't notice.

Well, this is gonna be quite different from all your Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins. I'm into metal (no, metal does not include Korn, Limp Bizkit or Deftones), industrial and gothic. Also lately I've been listening to some EBM and such electronic music. My favorite bands are Samael, Moonspell, Rammstein, The Kovenant, Therion and Cradle of Filth to mention the best... and several more.
I'd have to say Samael are my favorite. They are able to mix metal, industrial, electronic and gothic music into one, which sounds just awesome. It's almost the only band with programmed drums that I really like.
Therion are also a band worth mentioning, it's probably best described as "opera metal". Sounds amazing.

Top playlist (at the moment, always changing)

The Kovenant - New World Order
Samael - Year Zero
Samael - The Cross
Moonspell - Ruin & Misery
Moonspell - An Erotic Alchemy
Therion - The Invincible
Cradle of Filth - Funeral In Carpathia
Cradle of Filth - Her Ghost In The Fog
Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace
In Flames - Episode 666
Velvet Acid Christ vs. Funker Vogt - Civil War [Tripping in Boot Camp Remix]
Tiamat - Brighter Than The Sun

Here I go

In no particular order

Public Enemy - party for your right to fight
Ice T - about all of them but mostly OG
Weird Al yankovic - Polka you eyes out
Limp bizkit - Rollin` ( urban assault vehicule ) not the one on radio
Crazytown - lollipop porn
Bethoven in general
Amazing grace in babgpipe from Bravehearth soundtrack
Godsmack - voodoo
Barenaked ladies - if i had a million dollars
REM - End of the world
Edwin - Alive
Erik B and Rakim - Microphone Fiend
Destiny's child - well actually i just like to see them

Now if anyone sees a connection between all of these please tell me cause i cant seen one but i like them all.

RE: I guess another one of my inventions goes back to the dr

As for Shannon Hoon... He did not choke on his own puke. That was Jimi Hendrix. Shannon simply overdosed. No puke involved. And my favorite Blind Melon song is Tones Of Home... Damn good song. As for SP... They're okay. Not my favorite but they got a few good songs.

And I should Add Our Lady Peace - Naveed to my list...

"'Kill!' shouted Ford. He shouted it at his towel. The towel lept up out of Harl's hands. This was not because it had any motive force of its own, but because Harl was so startled at the idea that it might."

Hmmm. I seem to be more of a older-style music type. My favorite s:

-REM
-U2
-The Who
-Led Zeppelin
-Jimi Hendrix
-Lenny Kravitz
-Smash Mout-Walking on the Sun
-Smashing Pumpkins-1979
-Goo Goo Dolls-Iris, and Name

I also like classical music: Beethoven, Wagner, Vivaldi. That's about it. The above is on no order, just the order I thought of it.

Heh, Xotor is quite a napster leech ;-)

None of the music I like is ever mentioned anywhere on TV or radio. After watching MTV for some time, one would think that about half of the music in the world consists of rap/hip-hop, and that the most extreme music in the world is Marliyn Manson and Korn.
It's pathetic.
Real music never gets any attention. There are some extremely talented musicians that I know of that have to have an ordinary job because they can't live on just the music. They deserve money more than any of the MTV bastards.

Testes has spoken. Long live Testes.

Actually it does. The type of bands you mentioned are very different, but that doesn't mean Korn, Limp Bizkit and Deftones are not metal. They're just a different type of metal (nu-metal apparently if you believe the music press, though I don't like labeling everything).

Of the bands you mentioned I like Moonspell and Tiamat and Rammstein. I'm not really into black metal like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth (allthough I do like the Hammer Studios feel of CoF, I just can't stand Dani Filth's screeching). Judging from the type of music you like I suggest you download a couple of songs of Within Temptation, I have a feeling you'd like them.

ummmmmm you dare to say cradle of filth is real music? hahahahaha
real music is what the public believes is real music. ever since radio deregulation record companies are throw tons of money at stations to play what they want(since more than 90% of the stations are owned by the big 3 radio networks, and because these companies have close relationships with record companies.)

so music does suck becuase there is a serious lack of variety. look at crazy town, like limp bizkit but a lot less talented. there are so many crappy angry metal bands that think power chords are gods gift to man. the truth is these bands dont innovate and dont inspire musical progress like say a kraftwerk, beatles, rolling stones, george clinton did. thesenew angst ridden bands wont be remembered in the future for good music.

but anyway you look at it music is going downhill in creativity, and innovation.

>ummmmmm you dare to say cradle
>of filth is real music?
>hahahahaha

They are very talented. Each song is a skillfully made composition, which you'd notice if you listened. And if you don't like the vocals of Dani, well that's something you might get used to. But that's what makes them so special.

And large record companies always suck, thus the music on radio sucks.

Angry metal? Is Limp Bizkit metal at all? No. Neither is Korn. They can't play guitars (or any other instrument) worth crap.

>but anyway you look at it

No.

Yeah, I know. But I just hate to call it metal. Actually, Limp Bizkit really shouldn't count. Just because they have a guy with a guitar beating it while another is rapping doesn't mean its metal.

Heh.. I didn't like it before either. But listen some, and it might grow on you.
I don't like black metal generally either, but CoF are pretty good and Dimmu have a couple of decent songs although I'm not big fan.

Cool... thanks.
And I suggest you check out new Samael songs if you haven't already. Not the old ones.
