First time out of the vault
I was just playing some Fo2, in NCR, doing the quest for Dr. Harry:
Once I got the syrum, I was about to head off to B.H. to annihilate a mutant in exchange for the Robodog, then I decided to talk to Merk before I left cause it was dark out so I thought I might as well get it over with. Now, I hadn't talked to Merk yet, or done any of his quests, so I initiate dialogue and ask for a job, Merk asks me to prove myself, so I offer to fight Lenny (the mutant in the bar). Now, I think this took place in the basement of the bar in the Bazaar, me and Lenny in the fighting ring. First round of combat, I use the mutagenic syrum on Lenny. Lenny turns to goo, and I get 1000 xp for stickin' a mutie with the syrum.
So, I go back to Dr. Harry, and get my Robodog. No problems, BUT, I was able to re-initiate the dialogue about genetics, and restart the quest all over, the Doc gives me another hypo of mutagenic syrum, so I went to Merk, and he pretends like nothing happened (Lenny was still dead though), and asks me to prove myself again (I told him to go shove a crowbar up his bum, more or less). I hadn't stuck another mutie yet though, I wasn't sure if I'd get the XP and robodog the second time around, so I loaded my game and I went straight to B.H. to kill a mutie, cause I wasn't sure if the problem with Dr. Harry would mess up my game, any ways...
I get to B.H. and go to stick the mutie in the bar with the syrum, Francis or Zaius or some thing... the one that arm wrestles, however, I had previously half-started the quest to find the missing people... I had found them, but hadn't told any one about it at that point. So, I stick the mutie with the syrum, and waddya know, a pile of goo. But this goo was differant, I could initiate dialogue with the goo. So I talked to the goo-pile and told it to leave town, at which point the goo-pile disappeared (I was rather angry I didn't get to loot the body), and the quest moved forward as it normally would have if he'd have been alive.
Well... I thought this was really friggin' neat, so I'm gonna reload my game and take screen shots of the cool parts and try to get two robodogs and more mutagenic syrum. I'll keep you guys posted about what happens.
