My arteries are cringing...

Yup, that's kind of disturbing. On some news show or the other, I remember reading that the newest craze in American dining is to take two bad-for-you foods and combine them into one enormously dangerous calorie bomb. That's why we have Buffalo Chicken - Quesidillas and Stuffed Potato Skin - Pizzas.

On the truly gut wrenching, a buddy of mine once ground up a pound of bacon with the meat grinder attachment on his Kitchen-Aide, then shaped it into a hamburger patty grilled it. Ground Bacon Burger. Now that's dangerous.

That's something for pootube! I'll always regret I never registered that domain.

Now that's dangerous.
Only those who dare truly lives. Then dies. But that's not really important.

i eat out about twice a week. in decent belgian restaurants (read french quality, german quantity) and i still get perfect BMI.

it's not about the meal itself, the fat or the calories, but about the way you live.

i think it's also moronic to say junk food 'aint that bad when compared to the rest', because it doesn't take all things into account.

I'm actually not too surprised by that. Fast-food chains have been under more scrutiny than the rest of the restaurant industry, so they've worked on making their food healthier. Other restaurants haven't been under that pressure. Also, sit-down restaurants tend to have larger dishes; sometimes enough for four healthy-sized servings.

Agreed. You also have the problem in the USA of fast food monopolies. The mega billion dollar corporations are on every street corner and are generally the cheapest form of food around. Thus making one heck of a "healthy" poor class (you might have to lump the middle into that, given the current financial state of the country).

Actually, what I am really surprised at is the sodium count.

If you actually watch the segment, you will know how bad that is. Go check your favourite chain restaurant's sodium count on their dishes.

I am not really worried about calories per se, but that much sodium can probably mummify you.

Kind of like Tom Raman... At least you know that your insides will stay preserved!
