My Fallout 2 Playthrough - Started Today :)

First time out of the vault
I just started a video series, playing through Fallout 2 and commentating. I'm about 30 minutes in. Please be kind, as I am still learning the recording and audio, and getting the right amount of quality!

Thanks for your viewership. It's been about 7+ years since I've played FO2, and this is loads of fun to me. :D

I'm having trouble recording while playing. My system is not Uber, but it's pretty darn good: Intel Duo CPU, 3GB ram, Windows 7, 200+GB hard drive space available.

What happens is, when I record the game while playing, 90% of the time it lags, (just see the 4th video to see exactly what I mean.) It runs slowly and jerkily while Fraps is recording. I know it's possible to do, but I don't know how, and anyone who could offer help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Try recording to a separate drive instead of the one you're running the OS/FO2 from. FRAPS generates huge amounts of raw data which can cause the HDD to get overwhelmedif it needs to do other stuff at the same time. Note that a USB-based external drive will probably run into trouble as well because the USB connection isn't really fast enough for the amount of data FRAPS writes.

Could also be your rig though. I recommend trying to record at half size (IIRC there's a FRAPS option to do that) and see if it helps.
