Mysterious death after leaving The Glow

So I did all the stuff in the Glow, and got the tape for the brotherhood. But when I leave, after several hours I immediately die. I have no idea why, and I looked in walkthroughs but that don't say anything about this. Anyone know what it is?

I die on August 24th.
