This mission needs Delta, SAS Counterrevolutionary Warfare Wing, US Navy's DEVGROUP, and any other high speed low drag types that specializes expediting hostage situations by greasing the insurgents holding these innocent folks in a rather grand
manner that makes CNN and the front page of Soldier of Fortune.
Hell yeah. They could ahve taken a hint for the folks who did Jagged Alliance.
What FOT needs (maybe they can do some sort of add on CD or two besides the preorder bonus mission) is a good supressed subgun or handgun like the MP5SD series, L34 Sterling, or even Gemtech's upper for the Colt SMG. Even better surpressed rifles with the Russian VAL/VSS or Grendel but firing fat subosnic rounds; not too much for long range accuracy but a spitzer projectile hitting a human (mutie, ghoulie, or those motherf#$%king dEathclaws) beats a round nosed pistol load.
Flash grenades seem to work okay but the effects don't last enough for my tastes in CTB (haven't tried the game in traditional turn based).
this is not tough. Turn off the lights, then rush inside. Kill the commander (it's a she, patroling in room) to prevent her detonating the bombs. If she triggers them you'll have 60 seconds for disarming. I just went into turn based mode, started shooting at everyone and my bomber went straight to the bombs, for disarm
In the firefight though more often than not one generator gets scragged and most of the hostages get greased in the exchange of fire? Why can't they goddamn take cover like normal people when supersonic high speed copper jacketed lead is moving towards your direction
?
My problem with this mission is not killing the alarm or rescuing the mayor's daughter. It's trying to find that warhero dude held up in Quincy's hoosegow? Where the high holy f#$%k is that medal wearing sumbitch? Is it in the prisong courtyard with the scaffold? Because I can't get to the area where the Beastie Boys hold their ugly necktie dinner parties (dynamite doesn't work and where's the key then all missions generally have keys to doors that can't be opened since lockpicking doesn't seem to be as useful aside from opening the occasional locked crate or door).
Second is trying to help out the ghouls. Elliot wants you to stand and fight (?) when the Deathclaws come in and get the Radiation Mambo Kings' wimmenfolk from Quincy's whorehouse.
Getting into a firefight with ghouls and dealthclaws obviously leads to blue on blue and then goddamnit you have to kill them.
And I hate to shoot people when I don't have to because it waste rounds beasue it means I ahve to kill more people to repalce the ammo that I used or hauling ass back to the nearest Brotherhood base. And I hate going back to the quartermaster/armory
.
But if you don't use burst fire then you'll get even shredded by the deathclaws even more...
Maybe I should rearrange my team to form a L shaped ambush.. Shortleg of two people with one guy tossing frags and a man with an assualt rifle hugging the fence. The other four spread amongst the ghouls in a crouching position in the sandbagged areas).
Too bad you can't climb up on the roof and rain fire below without the opposition touching you.
