Need modders? or a Project? Need / have modding ideas?

I started a couple of new pages on the modding wiki:

http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Modders_Required

Don't be scared to look. There are dozens of modding tutorials linked on there, and not just scripting ones. If you are looking to help but no one is actively looking for your speciality: advertise your services in the discussion section.

http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Modding_Ideas

There are allot of good modding ideas buried here, that someone could potentially pick up. I could use some help forcing them out of the grave. Feel free to scribble your ideas on the wiki, or start a design doc if you have an extensive mod idea .

Damn you New Arroyo, why do you still haunt my dreams

Yeah the raider thing sounds interesting.

Speaking of New Arroyo, is there any chance to reuse the maps? Or are the files lost?

Oh, and what about the dominion mod? Some of their maps are just delicious... Any chance to salva... hum, to have the authorisation to use them?
That could save a looots of time, especially their junktown and Adytum maps...(Ho, and some city maps too :D )

Well, I just thought I'd ask...

Silencer has the NA files. He has passed them onto a couple of people I know of. PM him and see what he says.

I will drop you Pavel's E-Mail address. I don't imagine he would have an issue with you using the maps. On another Dominion note, I found someone to proof read the translation I have been sitting on for years.

FO1 is nearly impossible to mod, so any ideas posted in here will most likely remain dreams, unless Jordan's FO2 converted to FO1 is finished.

At this point I do not develop the mod. But I have laid out designer. With Designer you can finish the mod.

The main part of mod work. Of course there are some bugs and defects. Create mods to mod possible.

Sorry for my bad English.

Good luck.

That's sad news. Thanks for your work. Maybe some ubber-modder will pick it up... maybe :(

My dream for fallout 1 would have been a mod giving goood ends for the hub and the sanctuary.

But why is fo1 so hard,to mod?

Is it a matter of informatic language? In my mind i believed that the older a game is,the easier it is easy to programm and mod.
So i would have understand if you said that fallout 2 was hardier to mod than fallout 1 but it is the opposite.

The problem with modding Fallout 1 is that a lot of data seems to be coded into the executable itself, not stored in files in master.dat . Files not present include: city.txt, maps.txt, party.txt, quests.txt, worldmap.txt, and quests.msg. The way the game is designed is very similar, and many of the file formats are the same in both games, but you don't have easy access to the control structures – how many maps and cities there are, party members, random encounters, etc.

Valuable work, although I'm a lil' surprised Resurrection is not included. I rate Ress higher than many other project.

Anyway, I'm glad for taking BGE in, but I'd also like to clear up a couple of details. They should have been cleared up with the upcoming news that's obviously pretty belated.

1) No mappers, please; not efficient enough to learn anybody X months to handle mapper in this stage of progress. And generally, chance to grab a good, hard-working one is dangerously close to zero (hi Jacen :D).

2) We do hire programmers, as all the others, but only Czech/Slovak ones, 'cos the rest is just a communication self-murder.

3) Very nice words about the artistic skill. :D

4) We'd invite a special proofreader with knowledge of California, Arizona, or at least Texas idioms very warmly.

Thanks. :drunk:

I added the Res team and updated you required add. Anyone can edit this BTW, don't be scared.

I have seen a few former modders floating around NMA (you know who you are), so hopefully someone will be interested in something.

Re: FO1. Jordans project is the only hope for a FO restoration project and fan mods. Respect to TeamX, but I am not so confident their project will see the light of day.

*cough*Killap! do it*cough*.

If someone will start some serious modding with Fallout 1 (but not the fucking Fallout 2 like idiocy) then you may count on my help :D

Right now what would be needed is people to playtest Jordan's project and assess the situation, so we could have an Idea of what's still need to be done.
Most of the work has been done and it is playable. But i really don't know what amout of work the rest represent.
Maybe we should pass an annouce on the news forum for playtesters?

I just hope that whoever take over this restoration don't make the talking beaver or something...

Maybe Jordan could tell what needs to be done/what bugs you may expect/etc.?

But my programming/scripting knowledge = 0 :D so I can't help you with finishing his great work.

Also, I can't do any playtesting, since this modification probably will totally ruin Fallout 2 files (I also noticed Mapper's .exe in the archive) and I need a clean situation there to make the subbie

As for news on the front page: good idea, someone must send a PM to admin/news poster, I guess...

Which will come as soon as we finish playing our favourite game "I'm to cool to upload images to the website / our CMS is too complicated" (Jesterka) and "I'm not your monkey to upload pictures / too cool to be your monkey to upload pictures / too busy to spend time uploading pictures via web-based thingy a monkey can understand" (me).

Well, if someone impatient enough will hijack the F1: Restoration Project title there would be no apparent reason to make a controversible mod. But as you remember the same talk had place sometime before concerning F1 patches: "TeamX is dead, someone make those patches yourself, blah, blah, blah..." It doesn't mean that we gave up on mod if we are not aggressively advertising our work.

Very well. I need a volunteer to perform a playtesting of the following combination: Fallout v1.2 + Semi-offical patch v1.2.1 + Unofficial patch v1.3.4 + NPC mod v3.4. PM me.

Well, I can't do any serious playtesting, because work on the subbie will be stopped once again  In other words: playing or doing art for Fallout, I simply have no time for both things, sorry :(

And nobody does. That's why I still work on 1.2.1 myself. And F1:RP is on hold until 1.2.1 (and most likely 1.3.5) is released.
