Neo-roman slavers?

First time out of the vault
Anyone else raise an eyebrow at Sawyer's idea?

No slight on him intended but how exactly does that fit in the Fallout world (aside from them being post apoc. slavers)? If it was just a loose use of Legionaire ranks I can maybe see it, but if there were any red horsehair helmets or gold armor bits I think that is not Fallout, nor is Marcus Slaverus type naming. Anyone else wondering about this element?

As much as some of the later day guys were fans, they hadn't worked on either of the first games. Would they have gotten it right I wonder? Again no slight intended as JE et al were clearly talented. That is not what I am getting at. I just wonder how consistent the Fallout vision is once you drift further and further from the original devs and what this might mean for ever getting a good Fallout 3 now that the the break is complete.

I think the shots we did see were brilliant but that one idea did sort of make me scratch my head a sec. I hope it was just the idea of ranks, unless the leader was saome insane copier saleman guy trying to revive ancient Rome from a history book. That would be a cool dig at a bad movie :).

Yeah, I did wonder how (if) that would be pulled off, but it's kinda academic now isn't it?
Even if FO3 happens, it's unlikely to incorporate the work that's already been done.

What's the movie you mentioned?

I have quite a bit of info on the game, but nothing about that group, so i really can`t help you. I`m not really visualizing togas in the Wasteland too, but i think he wanted to mimic military structure, not everything from ancient Rome. But i really don`t know, so can`t talk much about it.

He means "The Postman" by Kevin Costner. A trerribly botched flick, if you ask me. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119925/

BTW: The copy machine salesman even makes a reference to the Punic Wars in the movie. Alas, it would take an indepth fascination with Mussolini to come up with the idea of ressurecting Rome in its grandeur.

Ah, I remember. I kinda liked that movie, but only in a bad movie kinda way.
