Never had random encounter, help!

Outside of the common ones, Bridge-keeper, 3-powered armor guys, Dogmeat tavern. I've played fallout II more than 6 times through(and countless times partially), and I find it odd that I would only have encounterd these three...
 
what pc you got?

if it's too powerful it will speed up your travel over the worldmap, and thus you will only get special encounters instead of random encounters

could be something else of course

If you've tagged Outdoorsman, it could be combining with your clock speed to really nix encounters. The car cuts them down frequently, as does carrying a motion sensor. The big issue here is probably how fast your PC is, remember this game will run on a P90 minimum, so a P1000 is more than even ten times that, and I've seen clock speeds as high as 2.4, 2.8 GHz, (2400-2800) so you can see where we'd be getting some errors. Things go quickly even on my PIII-500 MHZ machine.
 
I get some random encounters with my P3 800 MHz computer. I set my outdoors to like 100% too.

With my K6 266 MHz, I would be ambushed too often. I remember once that it took me two hours to traverse from Den to Modoc because of the many random encounters I was having.

Some people have tried using special programs to slow down Windows XP.

I got that in Tactics, but in FO1/2 i can walk form one end of the map to the other with no encounters. It's damned annoying.
 
I have a 450 P2, and get them at a random rate, usualy depending on my map location and outdoorsmen skill.
 
@BigT: Is your copy of Tactics patched? Mine is patched and I have all the encounters, with normal travel speed. FO2 is a different story, I haven't found a way to get travel speed running normal, and keep pc from not crashing. Strangely enough...

...FO1 works just fine :?

Probably, I haven't played it in a while.
I've played it both patched and unpatched and it's always like that. It is annoying the way I can't walk across a square without 15 encounters.

Dunno, but it's happened on very character that I've used, so I would doubt that that is the problem.
