I don't like the Coil Gun much looks like it requires too much maintenance to be viable on the battlefield. Then again, the AR-15 was received the same way. The soilders learned ingenious ways of taking care of their AR-15's and it soon became the standard rifle for most soldiers. So who knows what will become of this inovation.
they're just amateur projects 10mm... real coil guns are under heavy investigation by the military for usage on battlecruisers and perhaps even tanks.
as for the AR15, it is a crapweapon for any real world usage. sure, you got no recoil to speak of, you can quietly shoot through a target the size of a 2 euro coin at 100 yards. the accessories on your weapon cost about twice as much as the weapon itself. if you drop it in the dirt, let alone mud, hello world of jams! somehow someone failed to note that war isnt fought fighting from a lounge chair milking 10point-shots at paper targets...

Anyways, we better leave the coil guns for the military, those amateur guns didn't look much more harmful than paint ball guns to me. Na okay, I know they can cause some damage but they are too far away from being effective weapons in any way.

Okay I should have said, the AR 15 and its decendants such as the M 16 and the Colt Commando have become the standard rifle for most of the American soldiers.
