New animations/models for weapons?

Z?

First time out of the vault
So, I'm new around here, and I was wondering if there was an existing mod that changed all the weapon models (don't know actual name) to correctly display what weapon you were currently equipped with. I'm a bit tired of shooting plasma bolts from a flamer and shooting gauss rounds out of a shotgun-looking thing. If there is no existing mod, how difficult would it be to make one as such?

Weapon model in inventory - yes - check the threads.

Weapon model on the character/critter animation - no - too much work.

When you say too much work, are you implying that it's possible?

Not entirely. The animation sets are code-named with certain letters of the alphabeth. For instance, when you look at the critter animation files, if the seventh letter of their name is H, it represents the pistol animations and J - rifle animations. There are only a couple of free such letter codes left, so making all weapons have different animations is currently impossible, because there are more weapons than free codes.

When I say currently, I mean that perhaps some coding wizards like Timeslip could redesign the system of how the animations are played, but that's a very far-fetched supposition. So, it may not be impossible, but it's certainly very, very, very improbable. Not to mention that making animations for all weapons would be like editing literally millions of frames. Good luck with that.

However, IIRC, Josan12 was working on a mod to add new weapon animations including the sniper rifle, wakizashi and other. Use the search option to find it.
