New critters on the basis of Van Buren.

Allout

First time out of the vault
New critters on the basis of Van Buren.
To strengthen interest to our project Fallhope(new forum), I wish to show new Eye Candy.
For a basis I took Van Buren model. I edited a mesh, has created a new bones, and animated it anew, taking for a basis the animation of the original. Some animations are not finished yet, and they will be changing: for example "run".
I am ready to exchange art with other teams.
I am sorry for my bad english.

Don’t worry about your English this looks very exciting…any weapon firing animations.

Yeah, I will supplement this post. I am occupied by animation right now.
This critter will have a full set of animations.

It is not the definitive version, too.

The last one got too much frames and looks like slow motion kind of thing. Also, try to eliminate legs "sliding".

Anyway, keep up the good work :ok:

:whatever: Now I am absolutely assured that developers used motion capture. I will not go to search for the information, to make sure of it. If I am mistaken, then to me becomes even more sad.

When they were building the critters they had to shoot squirrels with shot guns (while filming of course) just to get the blood splatter effects just right…now that’s taking motion capture to a new level. :freak: These critters look great by the way…

Probably it was most difficult with a flame thrower. :D

Indeed. Let's hope we'll see them finished.

Anyway, what software are you using for animating/rendering/whatever, Allout (not Fallout, goddammit!).

I've always dreamt of a Fallout mod that adds different types of unarmed attacks - not just high kick and unstraight punches, with no choice of punching/kicking leg/arm.

Yeah, I know. It just reminds me of that (probably due to the fact that it had separate mid kick and high kick, plus different punch animations). Anyway, this mod is enough for just some of the animations (maybe the main ones). Or maybe not, since it would require animations for all the armors. Damn.

I'd have no problem with using the grey/orange guy as a default Hero critter if finished properly one fine day.

Create animations once and new critters will be added faster, but problem is, that new critters will not look like original, as we wanted this.
Now animations have flaws, that will be fixed after all critter animation creation. Now about third of it is done.
Did mod needs new critters? What fans of good old game can say?
It will be great, if you take part in the survey and discuss it on official forum.

The video looks pretty impressive.

There are some problems with action frames (that is when the NPC reacts to dude's actions, like swinging hammer), some offset skipping, and some animations are too slow (there are possibly too many frames), but as you said, this is going to be corrected later, right?

I think mods should use new critters made by the community, they add more flavour and variety to the game. I remember this tiny little bit of dialogue in Fallout 1 when one of the NPCs points out there are only a handful types of people in this post-nuclear world and that there must have been some genetic disaster during the war
