New Fallout-like map editor: beta test

As we're currently planning the design of the FIFE map editor FIFEdit we would like to know if members of the Fallout modding scene are interested in applying as beta testers for it.

ATM our editor core coder is still working on the concepts for FIFEdit but it is planned to start coding around the beginning of June. I guess it would take at least 8 weeks till we would have a first version that could be beta tested. So if there are enough people interested, we could start a beta test at the beginning of August.

To get a basic survey of the currently planned concepts, take a look here:

We are very interested in getting feedback from the Fallout community as it seems to be the most important target audience for FIFE at the moment. A beta test would be a great way to get familiar with the FIFE editor tools if you plan to work on a FIFE mod later. And even much more important: your feedback will help to improve the editor and will make the modders life easier. If you think something important is missing you've got a good chance that this features gets added because of your request.

Such a beta test needs quite some planning so we want to ensure first that some people are interested in giving this a go. We would create a wiki page for feedback, bug reports and feature requests. You would get access to a special beta test FTP where you can download fresh builds 1-2 times a week.

So who's interested in giving it a go? Your job would be to test the most recent builds once a week and provide feedback on a weekly basis too. I hope that we can find some people that are willing to spend some time to help us create a great mapping tool for Fallout-like games :-)

I'm interested, I just got done with finals so I have a couple of months before I leave for AIT. After AIT I would continue helping out.
