New Main menu

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
I hate the new main menu bethesda put there. It looks like bioshockish-fast-play-through gameboy game.

So I was playing a bit with photoshop and the most badass art bethesda made.



(I know, my photoshop skills suck)

The music for the menu should be the same like in Fallout 1&2 or this one by Inon

Which will create deeper, dark climate of post-apo world.
The original song which is in the menu sounds like a super hero cartoon.
 
LOL, this may be the first post of yours I actually agree with. I like idea of the look your menu.
 
The Menu Art is nice. The only issue I have with it is Fallout 3 starts in a vault where basically thats all you see your whole life. This sort of governmental propaganda. Which suits the vault.

I guess it depends which direction you want the game to go from the beginning. Art wise I mean.

I say go for it though! I'm more worried about making the game have more weapons, more crafting and slower leveling. Thats all I care about.

Bethesda didn't create any arts which would fit the menu the most. This one looks more bad ass, and you already know before starting the game that the Vault 101 is in Washington DC.
And it also might give an information that this Fallout is based not in the West Coast, but on the East Coast.

The Vault part is a small % of the game :P

This art actually shows 2 main things.
1. You play in Washington DC
2. Power Armour- it's now Fallout's tradition to put it on the main menu :P

This is just an image. I don't know how to implement it to the game, because I've never done modding before :roll:
 
i love the look of that menu

what would be amazing though is if you could make a similar background using in game assets, maybe put in a few animations and have a nice moving background

though it would probably take alot of time to get right


but your background looks infinitely more fitting than the original

Yes but I don't want to see whats outside the vault tell I am out. I generally believe the menu they used portrayed the style of that world at the time of the fall which can be found basically on any machine or book. Inside or outside the vault. Thematic continuity aside though I do like your concept. Its just not the way I want the game hehe.

Which means keep working! Hey everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to learning to mod! I back on Alpha Centauri myself. A little bit of Masters of magic as well hehe.
 
i think it looks better than the original menu. the normal menu bothers me actually.

But the current one has a picture of Power Armor... which I thought existed only outside the Vaults after the fallout happened.


Oh, and if you made a 2560x1600 version of this menu, I would love you forever!!!

Thanks, but is it the only way to do this? Is it possible to change the text and stuff?

BTW, you need to mix with the colours with the original. The original colours of this image are bad IMO, that's why I made more red-brownish to give it a "wasteland/red sand" feeling.

The texts shouldn't be on the right, because the PA is on this side. On the left we have more space for the menu.

PS: I will try to do the "Stand By" sign too.
PS2: Wondering if we can get the game intros (with Perlman's narration) before the main menu comes up.
