New Sprite Editor

So now we have three sprite editors, but no artists/modellers/animators.

Sod's law says MF will release the official editors shortly.

I have plenty of Fallout Models, just no way to turn them into Tactics Units. :D

Cheers, Thorgrimm

This gets me wondering, has anyone ever attempted to edit Tactics' Power Armour sprite into something that looks more like classic Fallout style instead of looking like what Puma Man would wear if his movie had an actual budget?

Indeed.(Dak's editor)
I have little hope they will release the official editors.
Of course Iplay did it in the end, but I suppose they knew the end of the company was coming and wanted to leave the fans with something to work with, those of the stuff that love FO as much as the fans do.

The FoT PA is very difficult to be edited, basically cause we're talking hundreds of individual gifs editing by hand. And many, like the crouching etc anims would be really difficult to do. I'm in the process of making a PA model for my Civ mod which will be usable for FoT if you know how to use Poser, but it's based on a commercial model, so I don't know if it can be posted(prolly not).

The others should be easier to do now we have the editors, especially Thorgrim's Robot units.

It's good to have the editors though, saves you work. It would be awesome if someone added a dialogue editor ala FO. That would make Tactics an entirely new game.

Doesn't Thorgrimm have PA models as well? Either way all the frames for all the animations for all the directions for all the stances etc will still have to be done, though some entities would be less work than others.

There's been a dialogue editor for FOT since before the official tools were released. Much easier to just use notepad.

Or do you mean a speech tree system in game? There's a new system been developed, probably the closest we'll get without the source code. Check out the modding forum.

Well, he certainly has APA, but it's rather unusable at its current form by most that aren't really familiar with something like 3ds max and animation on it(The model is excellent but rigging it would be really difficult for amateurs like myself)

Yes the speech tree is what I'm talking about. You and the originator did a good job implementing. At least now we have something to work on. I liked the colored text and letter options best.

Basically, it shouldn't be as difficult as you think to add it. The only real difficulty after creating the model(in poser which means rigged) is creating the poses. If Civ 3 is swarming with poser artist I don't see why FO wouldn't. I have it in the back of my head to return to FoT after I'm done with Civ, considering the graphics will remain in the perfect area for at least 5 years more.
