New Warhammer 40K Game

Dove, I hate you so much I'll pre-order Fallout and send it to your home asap ¬¬

About the new 40k game, I think we should wait more to judge. Still, I can say that I will hate if it keeps the close-in sync-kills that make the screen spin when the camera comes back to the shoulder. It makes things really confuse, just like Prince of Persia games (actually, the need of killing blows is also something I hate in PoP, and they seems to be in this game...)

Also, the Bolter being held in one hand and of place; a bolter is heavy enough so that a SM needs to use it with two hands - the weapon to be used with the Chainsword should be a Bolter-Pistol. And both weapons are NOT like submachine guns (trrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaa), they are more like BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. Like in this CGI from Warhammer 40k - Fire Warrior:

Another matter of concern to me is: GoW is a shooter after all, so sing it's gameplay style for a heavily melee oriented game may not be THAT great. But I'm hoping for two things:

A) That it's possible to take a ranged-focused approach when playing (i.e: efficiently shooting instead of meleeing, even if melee is still better);

B) That the single-player is not solo, but squad based, much like GoW, and hopefully like Star Wars Republic Commando (which would be even better, due to battle commands and the deep interactions between the squad members, who where fixed).

C) Heavy-weapons. Plasma guns/canons, powered fists/swords, Flamers, Heavy Bolters... YUM!

If these three possibilities are contemplated, I'm completely sold. Add some gay Eldar so we can shoot them, and it's Game of the Year! :mrgreen:

Well the one hand usage of bolter depends on him being a 4th edition Marine with true grit i guess.
And yes Bolters (That fire heavy caliber projectiles similar to gyro-ammo of today) are more of a hand held heavy cannon then an overgrown .22 caliber uzi (as it didnt damage anything in armor :))

Other than that its just wait and see. Games Workshop based computer games have a really erratic profile so you can never be sure if it will be cheap rip-off or an 8+..

Seemed pretty linear, the whole map is a bunch of corridors and platforms. I wonder if there'll be any fighting on the city streets. But that's an early build, so I guess we can't judge it really.

BTW he has a Bolter Pistol IMO, but I can be wrong.

I don't think that killing blows will be necessary, but they will help finishing off enemies quicker (i.e. the Witcher)

I loved the beat-the-Chaos Marine mini-game x]

This is a lot different from the first Warhammer game I played.

The feeling I got from Relicnews forum was that they view this as similar to Fallout Brotherhood of Steel. Thing is I think they should be happy there is something coming, some franchise fans dont have anything coming and the last thing that was made was some kind oversimplified arcade. I mean the Wing Commander community has been waiting new games for long time.

Take the comments from Relicnews forum with a grain of salt, for Relic games are all RTS, iirc. Besides, Dawn of War is the 40k game that mostly respects the fluffy (despite some flaws), so it kind of became a reference.

In any case, yes: we Relic forumers are as bitter as we NMA forumers when it comes to respecting the franchise and the 40k fluff/lore. Maybe because 30% of us are Table top players :mrgreen:
