Newbie has a question; NPC companions & other stuff.

Okay, you can call me newbie, but don't call me Bambi, alright 'Doc?
I've got a quetsion regarding NPC Companions in Fallout 1 (I bought a bundle of eBay last week, started playing with F1 first. I like that Tandi girl, she's all nice). I was wondering if it was possible to add in new NPC Companions, people like Tycho, into the game, once it has already started. Or if you can edit companions in an already started game (like changing the name).

Another question I have, is if I change a map around with the editor, will the changes take place right away, or will I have to start a brand new game . Because what I've done is I've made the base of the Khan Raiders my home, and I was wondering if it were possible to just add passive NPC's around the place, acting like a posse, and deleting the tents from the area.

Anyway, I must say Fallout is a pretty good game. If I had the time, I'd make a mod based on it any time.
Tycho and I are good pals now. He owns Gizmo's old casino. Right now I picked up and asked if he would like to help me out again. He said yes, so we're on our way to the L.A. Boneyard.

In case you haven't noticed, I like RPing.

If you edit a map with the mapper, the changes will take place immediately, making your savegame nonfunctional. You will have to start a new game. At least, that is what I know from my experiences.
