No sound in Fallout; Yes, I read the stickies.

First time out of the vault
Fallout 1 has no sound. I checked the Config file, and from what I can see, it's where it needs to be, the directory in the config is where all the music files are. And still nothing.

sound.music_path1=C:\Intrplay\Fallout\data\sound\music

Intrplay isn't spelled wrong, that's how it is.

Running on XP. Haven't installed any patches. Checked all the stickies, the only thing I've found is that the path in the config could be wrong for Fallout 2, which isn't an issue for me. Every single other thread just says 'check the stickies'.

Help would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem. Oddly enough, when you run it through a DOS emulation, the sound appears. And, after I installed it at 'large installation' on a different PC it worked perfectly. Finished the game on my older PC so I never tried to reinstall it. These are your solutions - smaller install, but running the installer directly, not through the autorun, or DOS emulation.

You have no sound or just no music?

And if you've read the stickies, surely you've tried disabling hardware acceleration for sound.

I remember running into this. Along with a few other problems.

I installed to my own specified directory, sound didn't work, installed to C:\interplay yadda yadda and it worked, try changing the directory name to the proper spelling. That might do it.
