NPC inventory

If i read the earlier posts correctly, you can pick up/ditch certain NPC team members after every mission. Now will your main character be able to "strip" those NPC's of their items before they are ditched?

How will you know if you will want to ditch some one before the end of a mission so you can take their inventory beforehand? You won't know until you beat the mission and find out who else will be available for rectuitment.
 
Another thing about inventory, is there going to be a way to unload weapons while you're looting so you don't have to carry around 10 SMGs just to be able to use the ammo?

They unload automatically when you pick them up and place them in your inventory.
