NV weapon mod texture bug

First time out of the vault
When I add a weapon mod to a weapon in New Vegas, for example the maple stock to the cowboy repeater, it sometimes will completely screw up the texture.

Example: http://i.imgur.com/wEHDIce.jpg

As you can see, it looks like the texture isn't lined up right with the mesh or something. If I use WMM and remove the mod, the texture is fine. This happens with a handful of stock weapons and mods.

I have re-downloaded and re-installed the mods that might have to do with this, which are the Weapon Mod Menu and Weapon Retexture Project, to no avail.

This only happens with some weapons, and it doesn't seem to happen with add-on weapons (such as the AKS-74u).

It is kind of hard to search for this problem due to the ambiguous nature of the description, but I hope someone has seen this before.

I've seen that on weapon mods that were screwed up. My Sawed Off Shotgun looked like that after I installed Book of Earache. Never figured out what caused it, but I suggest asking over at Nexus tbh. Are you using WMX or WME? Are you installing manually?

Wrong texture path somewhere I guess. This could be either in one of the .esp of the mods themselves or a wrong texture path in the mesh.

It's a bit complicated to explain so let's try simple solutions first

1. Deactivate and reactivate archiveinvalidation in FOMM and check if it solves the problem.

2. Change loadorder: first retexmods then WMM. I don't think this is the issue, but give it a try anyway, it's easy enough to check. Does not work if the mod comes without an esp and contains only a texture-folder.

3. Examine the folder structure in WMM and WeaponRetex, I imagine that WMM has an additional Folder (like: textures, weapons, WMM, and then the individual gun folders). If so, copy the individual textures from the Retexmod over to WMM-structure (For example: textures, weapons, cowboyrepeater to textures, weapons, WMM, cowboyrepeater). Check if that solves the problem.

If not, it's probably a fault in texture-paths either in the esp or the meshes themselves. A retexmod replaces existing textures, if another mod includes new meshes that point to new and different textures, you get bugs. Though in that case it's usually a mix of textures flickering, not simply a wrong one.

Anyway, just give the above fixes a try. If it does not work, I will perhaps have a look at the mods to see what's wrong.
