objects being highlighted (or not)

First time out of the vault
I had an install of fallout EDIT: (oops I wrote 3 and I meant 2) and a different save game set in which if I hit the shift key (or maybe tab or cap lock) I saw every object on the screeen that could be picked up highlighted.

now I just have the ability to see highlights if I put the mouse over an object. given the not so crisp graphics of the game I would really like to see stuff highlighted like I did before. am I missing something insanely obvious? (I am not a master of the obvious, merely the remarkable or strange)

That item highlighting is a feature of sfall. This is part of my patch, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work anymore. Are you sure my patch is installed? Do you see the rock at the start of the game behind Klint?
 
not got that version, got the old disk, not sure, but would the game be patched to the latest official version? but the object highlighting works for me, still, (I did update the ddraw.dll, also not sure but in the ini graphics mode is set to 4, (full screen directx) not sure if it works with any of the other mods,

but it works here, unless there is a problem with the game version? not sure
 
yeah I have sfall. and i got it to work. wish I knew what I did to make it NOT highlight. wierd. it works again
 
It is happening again.

I had some problems with crashing and and corrupt savegame so I decided to reinstall the gog.com version of F02 and then the restoration project 1.2 by killap. and then the hi res patch.
 
that might be the problem, you don't need to install the high ress patch afterwards, as RP already includes it, and Sfall is better anyway and seems to override it, if you enable Sfall, it will use directx, my advise is, do a clean install, and just install RP and enable all the options you want, then go to the sfall tab in the options and enable full screen, that will use sfall and enable object highlighting,
 
so I should install gog.com fallout 2, the restoration patch, AND sfall 2.9? will my savegames work if I update to 2.9?

or is restoration patch already 2.9?
 
Just do afresh install of the game and install RP 2.1 via the installer. Do wait until tomorrow when 2.1 is officially released though.
 
you just need to do the largest install of fallout 2 THEN install RP, as it includes both mods, adding them after will break stuff, especially sfall, that uses a ini file to configure how it runs, if you overwrite the file, it will break RP project as the ini file for RP will be different then the default one included with sfall, and that probably will apply to the high res package as well,

so again, you don't need both, as sfall and the high ress package is in RP already,
 
I was hoping it would have been out, I was so eager to play this with the update, oh well, can't be helped I guess, and keep up the good work, as this massive expansion is utter awesome :D :D :D
