Oblivion gets competition... new Might and Magic game

Well, the new game from Bethesda won't be the only fantasy first person rpg coming out sometime in the future. The Might and Magic series, a first person Action/RPG series designed in parallel to the turn based strategy heroes series is finding a new game in production called Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

From a trailer found at gametrailers.com, it looks to be using the HL2 engine and has some pretty graphics. The physics are used nicely as the main character casts a freeze spell on the ground and a pursuing enemy slips on it and falls off of the plank. Another scene has the character shoot a ball of fire that knocks over a statue atop a monster.

The only disappointment of the video was that the game no longer seems to have the hordes of monsters I found in the game in the series I played (MM6). In addition, I didn't see any signs of a party system.

Anyone else see the game preview and have any thoughts on it?
 
What will Oblivion offer though that would make it any different? Anyone here play any of the older Might and Magics? What'd you think?
 
i played MM3 through 8. decent series, i enjoyed it if a bit linear. some cool setups but reminded me a little bit of dungeoning in ultima 2 and 3. very exploitable game mechanics plus char editors were beautiful.

pretty decent series other than 9 was buggy as all hell. ranged attacks were way overpowered. it was not uncommon for me to just hold down my ranged fire keys and kill mobs before they had a chance to attack me. especially once you edited stats to the realms of godlike.

Even if it is a dumb action game, it still looks absoloutely badass. I'd enjoy a 3d diablo with the kind of graphics and physics that the source engine provides.
 
It looks like a lot of fun, and it is gorgeous, but it's more of a FPS in a fantasy setting than an RPG. I'll definitely be playing this one.
 
You shouldn't be playing games, you should be making Fallout 3!

That link ain't working, it keeps showing a stupid exorcist of emily rose advertisment and when you click to skip past it it just refreshes the screen basically
