Offing sleeping baddies

Does anyone else think it seems inordinately hard to kill sleeping baddies (at least after 'tribals')? I am on Quincy (lvl-6) and tried to kill the sleeping types with four characters (two with very high melee and unarmed skills) using a cattle prod, ripper, combat knife, and brass knuckles. After one hit each the beastlord baddie was 'seriously wounded' but got up and shot one of my guys! Surely its not that hard for four hardened pros to off a sleeping baddie even in armour? Still, perhaps I shouldn't bother with unarmed/melee since it doesn't seem to matter if you use a combat shotgun around the corner form a guard, unless your seen they seem to be deaf...
 
Hehe, I love when he uses the pump-action at short range and gives someone a new orifice with 100% of the buckshot... LOVED that on mission 2, but now I'm on stupid ol' Preoria, and I'm PO'd at these turrets that take no shotty damage :(
 
Hmm the turrets were taking a load of damage from my combat shotgun, but I was using my main. about 6-8 damage with regular shot and 8-13 with flechettes, while my sniper guns were pinging...
