Old bos & New Bos

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I was just wondering what would occur if the long expected meeting between the Midwestern brotherhood and the west coast brotherhood finally happen ... considering two possible endings for Fot 1 banaky's end and the canon end (calculator destroyed) ... i bet in both cases they would not lower their heads to the west coast bos ... other ideas?

I have also wondered the same thing. I see many separate factions of the Brotherhood as being a problem for the groups long term stability. I know Bethesda screwed some things up, but we have no choice in that regard. The Midwest Brotherhood is vastly different than all the other incarnations, both the original BOS and the DC BOS, and I am curious what would happen if they reconnected.

That being said- isn't Tactics regarded as non-canon? I actually liked it's story minus a few parts, but I have been told that Tactics did not count. I am almost positive that it has been disregarded by many fans, but i liked the story better than Fallout 3's.

I would be glad if we didn't have any fan service like "put this old faction in, they'll love it!1" in future titles, seriously it's time for something new and not rehashing the old ones over and over again. At this rate, Fallout almost become a comedy with the token factions in, which I find really tiresome.

I think they can change it up enough to make it more appealing. New Vegas did a excellent job in my opinion. They made the BOS interesting again, and they introduced new factions. They even fixed the fucked up Enclave armor from Fallout 3. I think the Brotherhood of Steel is Fallout. When I think of Fallout- I see Brotherhood of Steel. Just my opinion.

I think it will be a biiig mess if it is done with the current setting, and i don't think they made it better in FNV ("yeah, let's resurrect FO1 BoS, make them assholes, and put them in a populated area instead of the wastes").

I fear any idea they come up to make them more active again. I'm more with Surf Solar, trying to make them a major faction in every game it's an error. I love them, i love power armor (well not all, just the T-51b ), but ...

I think they should slowly disapear, integrated in the NCR as in FO1 (difficult to see it happens how things are atm with FNV, but i thought i will see them in the high ranks of NCR military/politics) or just as the Enclave: some ex-members around the wastes trying to make their way, maybe some abandoned bunker; or maybe just an old bunker in a mountain with a few BoS remanants, more like a monk monastery (more like Abbey in FO2 RP).

Anyway... BoS and Proud!

The Brotherhood aren't a main faction in FNV, nor are they noticeably different from Fallout 1. They've always been assholes. Remember how they sent you to die to the Glow?

Yeah. I think they embodied the BOS perfectly in FNV. They were focused solely on technology and worried about the NCR. They were threatened by the Van Graffs because of their tech. They did not become involved with bullshit plans to save the wasteland. I think they did it right.

The Power Armor will stay regardless, so I think the Brotherhood will always remain in that aspect. If they die out that would be fine too, but they have been in every game in either small roles or large ones, and it is unlikely that they will go away.

Was I the only one who kinda liked the Midwest Brotherhood? I know the armor was crazy looking and the plot was off, but I still prefer Tactics Brotherhood, rather than Fallout 3's. I liked the idea of Robots rising to wipe out the humans. The Vault 0 plotline was garbage, but it made more sense than some of Fallout 3.

FONV did throwback in a good way. It's entirely possible to play through it without ever encountering the Enclave and I can see people missing out on the BoS as well.

I only sought them out because I knew logically it was the only way to get power armor training.

I agree. I didn't even encounter the Enclave the first two times because I hated Arcade. They did it perfect. The Remnants did the Enclave justice. I think the Brotherhood should be done the same in Fallout 4 as in FNV. A very small presence, but important nevertheless.

Ok, ok, my fault they're NOT major faction, but still too many of them i think by the time that has passed and due to his reclusionism, that's what i was pointing.

And btw... i remember pretty much the whole Glow thing. Sorry but i always look at it like a "go kill the dragon" quest, and take it with a bit of humor. It's not meant to kill you, but to dissuade, if you're not ready or mad, you'll never think to do it. Cabbot himself it's "uh", "eh", "aheh", "um", all the time while speaking with you, doubting you will accept ("really? you will do it? great!" as if he was fearing you send them to hell). Then the paladin at his side gives you more advice about the Glow and to gather Rad-X if you want to go there.

Anyway, the wastes are full of assholes with weapons...

there are some elements that i can't put apart from the fallout world, to me those elements are for example the vaults, enclave, brotherhood, mutants

I would like to see those factions always present in a fallout game ... but in a dynamic context and not often as a ctrl c + ctrl v from old storyboards. I mean factions should evolve ... build history ... in that aspect i am in favor of what Bethesda did for the brotherhood, if the brotherhood is nearly a collapse its reasonable that many sub factions would emerge from the drowning core, considering it's lack of capacity to keep unity inside the order.

as for the midwestern brotherood, i read at the fallout wiki that its considered semi-canon ... due some aspects f3+ we can assume that fot happened (for ex, the rogue bunker of the midwestern bos in Chicago). All signs point that if a calculator ever existed the menace created by it's forces was only regional. Also much of the resources build by the midwestern bos was drained by this conflict, reducing greatly the order's power and influence, i guess that info can be considered canon ... but since there is no official note about it, there can only be speculation ...

I agree. I think the Reavers could show up again one day, as well as the Midwest BOS. The Beast Masters and Vault 0 were the worst parts of Tactics, but I enjoyed the plot for the most part. I would like to see what happened to the Midwest BOS after Tactics. I am curious as to what their next step would be.
