Out Run 2 pwns my soul.

It Wandered In From the Wastes
'Nuff said. The Xbox conversion of Out Run 2 was everything I expected and then some. How do I love it? Well, for starters, it's a near perfect conversion of the arcade game that I love so dear, but it doesn't stop there. There are four extra cars (328 GTS, 250 GTO, 512 BB and my beloved F355 Spyder- still no 575M or 550 Barchetta, though... ) on top of the eight from the arcade (288 GTO, F40, Enzo Ferrari, 360 Spyder, Dino GTS, 365 GTS Daytona, F50 and the trademark convertible Testarossa), great Xbox Live multiplayer, and a creative mission mode (math at 180 MPH, anyone? ). But the best part, hands down, is the tribute courses to two of the greatest Sega arcade racers, Daytona USA 2 and Sega Super GT. It brought a tear to my eye when I was blasting through the courses I loved so much for their creative scenery and layouts. Oh, and the original Out Run is hidden in the game, too. :D

If you have an Xbox, drop everything and get it right now. It's that good. You must play it.

I played it on a projector, it was pretty lame. Nothing special. Burnout 3 pwned it bad.

I hate consoles, so I will never play OutRun 2.

I do have some unpleasant memories related to the original. I had discovered it at an arcade near my apartment when I was only 10. I was immediately enraptured by the shiny graphics, great feeling of speed and many wonderful details (being able to run into a group of pedestrians while police is chasing you at 150 mph was something I had never experienced before.) However, I didn't have enough money for more than a few coins, so I had to leave really soon... too soon. For the next few days all I could think about was Outrun and how I would play it again as soon as I had a chance.

One day, I went to a library to return a book that was two weeks overdue. My Mom, however, didn't have change for the fine, so she gave me a 50 kn bill instead (a fairly decent enough of money back then, enough to buy three large pizzas.) I went to the library, only to discover it was closed. As I was returning home, I ran into two of my friends, told them I had a 50 kn bill and suggested we go to the arcade 'for a couple of games.' That 'couple of games' quickly turned into a two-hour session, and money melted away like butter. When I came back home and told Mum I had spent 50 kn on video games, she wasn't too pleased. She expressed her displeasure by giving me a beating, probably the only one I ever received in my life. Needless to say, my urge to play Outrun disappeared faster than my Mum's money.
