If you've read the Fallout Bible, you'd know that Vault City's vault was the control vault and was opened after 10 years. However, if you chat with Lynette, she mentions that the doors were opened TWO years after the vault was sealed. That's 8 years off!

Could this explain how the people of Vault City have gotten some radiation, being exposed too early to the wasteland before the radiation went away, which would make sense about their sterility, which is an option you can choose to discuss with Physilis in Vault City.

Anyone disagree?

Brilliant! That would also explain a lot of things. Didn't the Chosen one also ask Lynette about the timing being incorrect for the vault to open as well? I seem to remember this...

Lynette wasn't sure herself, or she just refused to tell you.
The opening of the Vault in Vault city was actually too early, and most of the people should have died (remember the Vaults are tests, and they were all set to open at different time spans...methinks Vault 15 was first, can't prove that though)

So Vault City never had surface sensors.

:D Ah, nothing like a story line with a touch of mystery. That's what makes Fallout so great.
