I’m going to get a lot of heat about this, but I don’t like most RPGs because of the parties. I grew tired of Baldurs gate because of it, and have given up on oters for the same reason. To me, when you play a Roll Playing Game, you must play, well, a role, and on most RPG, you play several roles. On most RPG games I feel like I do on RTS, I feel like I’m an entity that has powers over other party members. That is why I liked Fallout so much, I was my character, and my party members were helpers. I could talk to them, but I didn’t controlled them. Sadly, the way in which to communicate with the party members wasn’t as efficient as it could have been.
I think F3 should focus a lot on improving the communication and control of NPC, keeping in mind that they should remain helpers, and friends with an identity and will of their own, and not controllable units.
