well, i send this idea to Duck And Cover someday ago...and i want to see your opinion on this new psi consept.
well, i like psionic idea, but "active" psionic power like Psionic such attacking force or make some electric power or heal someone without medicine feel rather strange or un-fit, though it is possible. I rather like psionic power adept to game by perk or maybe by somekind treadment like dermal implant or such. So this way you can use psionic power in pasif way. Let me explain, after you get psionic perk or some "treadment", you will get psionic column (index) maybe it suppose to be in skill column (index). Psionic skill will gain by some practice or drugs/medicine or reading (though i believe there isn't any book about "how to gain psionic power" that day). How psionic power work, is like other skill, for example if you want to hipnotize/persuade another person, you can do it by simply talk to him and in your talking box you have an addition choice to do that (after you get the perk/skill). Another example, mental block will work like dodge skill, the higher the less you will get attacked. For combat psionic power (well i don't really like this but...well, if u want it too), you can attack other person like previous combat choice (reload, burst, snipe) but the different is that you will get additional choice for do it (become reload, standart, burst, snipe, psionic attack). In other way, psionic power will work by stat like other skill, pasifly, not become like "pseudo" magic (No electric power, fire/burnt people, super sonic voice...etc)
as an addition, psionic power must suffered by something for balance the game. I meant someone who have great psionic power is suppose to need something to survive, like medicine or something. This refer to many psionic story like Akira (manga), Jhon Travolta movie about he get sick (tumour in his brain) and suddenly he got the power (i forgot the film title, sorry), etc...So eventhough you get many special choice which make you easyer to play fo, but you need also suffered by addicted or depand by drugs/medicine.
