Perk adjustment

I liked the idea in FO2 you could learn perks... And in tactics, though it doesn't count, you could perk up your team mates...

Well in FO3, you should be able to ad dperks to your party members, and even special perks according to the race of a party member... As for traits, not sure, though it would be cool if your party members did have various traits...

So perks for team members would be cool... As well as some added perks...

Well, added perks for your companions may change their intended roles. For instance, pile perks with melee advantages with the Slayer perk onto a weak character will have him going head-to-head because his Melee skill is higher than his firearms skill (when, normally, he would be sticking to the backlines and shooting).

I'm in for perks for companions as long as you're not allowed to choose the perks. Something like that can either make them too powerful (imagine an entire party with the Sniper perk) or have a newbie make his party too weak (like having his companions select Mutate or Trader). Then there's the issue of staying in character; a gunslinger NPC wouldn't necessarily choose a melee perk nor would a medic NPC choose are thief perk.

I don't think you should directly decide perks for NPC's. But it would be cool if you could indirectly give them a direction like if all you supplied them with was an energy weapon as soon as it was available then they would become skilled with that. The AI for an NPC should definitely get more skilled with items they use. And I believe that is how it is set up in the previous games.

Taken as a given Gun, I'd say that is a valid point. Okay, so if perks were pre defined for party members that would be cool....

Yeah, that would be terrific. In the last two Fallout games, the CNPC's only upgraded their health, skills, and AP's. Pretty bleh. But it would be interesting if, for instance, a tech-guy learns new schematics for building stuff with each level or a gunfighter learns how to shoot two-handed after a certain point or a melee fighter gets a bonus modifer for chances to critical hit and deal additional damage after a certain level.

Perhaps they could have a list of specific perks that you could choose from? Or unique perks?

I am all up for a perk that allows dual gun fighting. Say Bladerunner's Macedonian gun fighter perk, which allowed you to use two pistols or SMGS... It had three ranks. With each rank redued a penalty...

Lots of possible CNPCS... Fallout 1 had an official 4. Fallout 2 had a possible 13... And well FO3 should have some you acquire depending on your karma and such. I mean even villains should get some niffty CNPCS...
