Dunno if anyones brought this idea up yet, but.

If anyone remembers the Quest for Glory series of games they should understand what im getting at here. In QfG you could import a character from the previous games (like your charac. from QfG3 into 4). What I want to suggest is similar in thoery. You should be able to import not the character from Fallout 2 into 3, but the results of that characters actions at the endgame. So for example, at the endgame Metzger has made the Den into a big prosperous city based on the slave trade and the Mordinos have taken control of New Reno and Redding, then in FO3 you have those same situations.

Of course, this means a huge amount of coding, scripting, animations etc. etc. etc. We'd be waiting 5 or 10 years, but what a game it would be!

So what do you all think?

Even from a marketing viewpoint, this is a good idea. True, it will take a bit longer to create...but then when the player learns they can start from other than the default if they have played through or have a savegame from the previous games, won't they then go out and buy them if they don't have them already?

Plus, it increases the replay value of all games in the linking, particularly if they are as in-depth as Fallout.

Thats a really good point.

True. FO2 lacked the awesome survivors in a post apocalyptic world feel that got me hooked in the first place. Although, it was meant to be set in a world thats was being rebuilt.
