Playing As A Dimwit

Mostly, I have always played characters with high intelligence. Now I've beaten both the first two games with all different kinds of characters, I've used all sorts of weapons and beaten the game with small guns, energy weapons, big guns, and melee. But I've never tried to make a character with low intelligence.

According to what I've read, playing as a stupid character is good for a laugh because the dialogue can be quite funny, even hilarious in some parts from what I've seen on youtube.

What traits are recommended? What are the best combat skills to specialize in? Should I even bother recruiting companions? What experience does everyone else have in playing a dimwit?
