First time out of the vault
Ok - I haven't ever done anything as retarded this before, but I made my mistake while reading the posts here trying to get a patch to work, so I figured, what the heck, you folks might know of a fix.
I was in my Fallout2 directory and was looking to open the config file with notepad. I had the browser tagged to list, and I was paying no attention whatsoever and clicked the master.dat file too and, heh, actually told the machine to open that one with notepad as well.

I don't know if this is a minor or major problem, and don't know how to change it back. I only use this particular machine for gaming, so it isn't a big deal to restore the thing, but I was hoping there was another way. Sigh, it's been one of those days-
