Please, Pro Street Racers Preferred. Opinions?

First time out of the vault
Yeah. I was on IMDb.com and i was hearing all the crap people were saying about street racing. Basically the only arguement they had against it was that "it's dangerous and can hurt innocent people and I don't like people pulling up beside me in flashy cars." Ok...I was just sitting there like "W...T...F?!" Several people I know street race and they do it LATE at night in crappy burnt out areas of town where NO ONE lives and there are dead ends or out in the country side where there are dead end roads. About 97 percent of street racers are not the kind that drive up and rev their engines against a crappy Geo Metro and try to race them(which i'm sure the prudes at IMDb were against it because people are blind and can't understand how people can be different instead of them just being jealous about the racers cars.) I find it sad that these people give blind opinions. One said that all the law enforcement should be diverted from everything and put on street racing! (!?) Ok! Thats an excellent idea. Then we can save the 5 people a year that MIGHT die in street racing related deaths instead of the estimated 4 million people who are assaulted in random street crime. Boy i'm glad these people aren't actually in charge of the law. Now it's fine with me if people oppose it...but for god sakes...don't be IGNORANT about it. Saying something like that doesn't just make them look stupid but it makes everyone against street racing look stupid when they mindlessly agree. I don't see street racing as a valid danger. They know the risks. They are there because it is an ALTERNATIVE life style. I think it is better than the legal supervised races, but clearly not as safe. I think there should be designated areas in town that street racers should be allowed to go to race. That way people wont "accidently" stumble into a street race like a person at IMDb said. And then what made me mad was one person said that all street racers deserved to die...o.O ok...sure. Thats just for one a cold cold statement and two the same person was bitchin about innocent people dying. They act as though racing a car through a street is some evil thing that promotes mass genocide and mass abortions and the SR21 killing fields and racism and every other major problem humanity has faced. In fact this really seems like the lesser of two evils. Street racing can give people something other than peddling drugs to do. In case they haven't noticed these "18 year old idiots" could be doing a whole lot worse stuff than racing a car. I'm sure these same people would have a fit if the kids played violent videogames instead. I mean after all violent videogames are just one of the media and interest groups scape goats. Violence in movies, videogames, now street racing. Boy...i'm glad we can focus on the real problems that plague the world such as starvation, terrorism, and energy problems. It makes me proud that we as Americans are more concerned with kids racing in the street and a little red jpeg images on games than 40 million people starving to death in 3rd world countries. I guess this was mostly about venting and I do apologize if i've offended anyone it was not my intent. I'm not like most people if you dissagree with me sound off without being derogatory or harsh. I like hearing opposing opinions (when they are valid not "WELL IT HURTS INNOCENT PEOPLE WHEN THERE ISN'T ANYONE AROUND FOR 40 MILES!" that stuff doesn't fly with me or anyone else who understands what the majority of street racers do considering my cousin is one I do and also it shouldnt with anyone with common sense which from what i've seen most people here DO) Well thats all I have. Thanks for listening and if this offends please don't be because i'm apologizing in advance and it's not my intent to piss off...just present a free standing vantage point. (Kyle Logan)

Head hurts, too much info...error, Danger Will Robinson!

But Street Racing can be dangerous, I also know people that are doing it.

LOL! I'm sorry! I know I tend to be long winded x.x. And yes it can be dangerous because I've watched plenty of it. But it is mostly to the ones doing it. And they forego the risk so they can have the rush. Thats short I reckon and easy to understand lol! ^_~ Thanks for replying Odin! (Kyle Logan)

just cause they do it late at night and in a crappy neighborhood doesnt mean innocent people cant get hurt. I work in a shitty neighborhood and i get off work at 1 AM and if i wouldnt wanna get hit by some asshole streetracer. Also just becuase the racers have skills doesnt mean that accidents dont happen. More experienced racers probably have a lower chance of wrecking than those inexperienced (whos to controll whos experienced and whos not?), but the fact is that when your driving at very high speeds its a lot easier to wreck and the wrecks associated w/ street racers are more serious than normal accidents.

Thing is these street racers (read idiots) do not just race in the night (there's another good idea, racing in the streets when there's no daylight), they are always ready to race on the highway, get off at a traffic light first....
I work with someone who street race, he just barelly survived wrapping his car around a post. Now with the insurrance money, he's just looking to buy himself a better (faster in his oppinion) car.
Second stupid things they do, they are not alone in the car.
Third, you see that yellow line in the middle... it's there to tell you taht you are supposed to be on the right of that line (ok left if you are in the UK or AUS)

Last i beated four of these guys in a legal kart race, and they claimed that they were unbeatable because they street race.

Some of these cars have nitro booster in the trunk, what if i get in an accident and ram the back of one of those cars? That's not going to be good for me isn't it? Or him since they almost all have lowered suspension.

It is dangerous, illegal and IMHO stupid.

The city where i live has spotted the streets where they usually race and water these streets in the evening, so that they are too slippery to race.

John there is a much easier solution to this. Speedbumpers, you know what i mean you just makes some large bumps in the road so the Losers have to slow down. Then it gets much safer in the city.

We have a lot of these losers around my place to, facts about them is that most of them don't got any other job than sitting on a fhising boat or selling moonshine and drugs to minors, dropped out of school at ayoung age, and their average girl friend is something about 14-16 years old, they usually pick them upp at school in thier cars, wich they don't leave unless they have to have to go to the toilet. They are a plague to the society we call the "rånera"and i hope they all get sent of to some far away place (read: antarctica) to never bother me adn the rest of the civilised world again.

Two of these stupid fucks died here last year because they could not take a swing right and the car was bent wrapped a tree, i think it was less then a meter between the front and backwheels. Now they were might only "unexperienced" but i bet that is what most of these cretins say about themself untill their car is wrapped arpund the same tree. Good thing they got wrapped around that tree anyway since there was coming a car in the opposite direction wich they would have crashed with unless they had fallen of the road.

I live in an area where street racing is *very* prominant, and at *least* once a month, there is an article in the news as to how a pedestrian or an innocent person was killed by a street racer. A fair amount of these people were racing at night.. it doesn't really make a difference. People still get killed.

I have almost been killed twice by street racers. One was at night, the other in the day. It was horrifying. In the night incident, I was a pedestrian (they ran a red) and actually had to dive out of the way. If I hadn't done that, I'd surely be dead. Neither of the drivers stopped, despite the fact that one actually looked straight at me as I was getting up.

If street racers want to endanger themselves, that's fine with me, I personally dont mind if they want to remove themselves from the gene pool. However, endangering innocent people is what makes me angry. People shouldn't be in danger just because of another person's lack of respect for life.

Oh I totally agree that they shouldn't endanger innocent people. But that is why the authorities need to step in and monitor these street races legally out in totally deserted areas. I love in the country side and street racers here don't do the crap in town because they have respect for other people. But the police around here will in general supervise the races and block off pedestrians from entering a long dead in road that has no connections to any other part of town. There are a lot of idiotic and juvenile people in street racing but saying that ALL of them are is a stereotype. The people that do drop out of school and race and such such definently be stopped and people who do the crap on freeways should have their car impounded and their NOS removed and all future NOS transactions should be frozen...sort of like gun waiting periods for a background check. The people whom I know that do it are VERY intelligent people. They have to be to design these engines and I think the genious in which it takes to make an engine run perfect is just amazing. My cousin who I spoke of was valedictorian in his class and is now a prosecuting attorney. Hardly a "loser idiotic kid". My point is there are a TON of people who shouldn't be doing it. But there are a LOT of people who are careful and should be allowed to. But thats all I have to say. Thanks for listening and giving your views. Latez (Kyle Logan)

I live in phoenix where there are speedways that people can go and not only race each other safely but can get there quater mile clocked. seems likes that the smartest solution.

A legal street race is called a rally, and none od the cars that are used to street race would be deemed safe enough to take part in it.
These rally are very bid in Europe... check it out

Rallies and speedways kind of subtract from the thrill of it, though. Most of the people I know that streetrace do it for money and for the excitement.

If they make it "legal" it will take the "fun" out of it and these guys are going to go someplace else where it's illegal.

Yaeh they design engines, they don't race'em, like most drugs maker do not use drugs.
