Plot Idea

I have a great idea for a storyline for Fallout 3. You should begin as a member of a community of one sort or another that is struggling to survive in the wasteland. Then there should be a calamity. Perhaps, for some reason, your community has fallen upon hard times.

This is where it gets interesting. The other members of the community nominate _your character_ to save them. Naturally, this would entail leaving the comforts of home and heading out into the wasteland in search of whatever it is that the community needs to survive.

Along the way, you encounter and interact with various people, making both friends and enemies. Perhaps you can even find a few brave souls who are willing to travel with you and participate in your quest.

Through your travels and travials, you'll have the oppurtunity to solve the problems of the wasteland's disparate population, and build a reputation as a hero to the masses.

You'll eventually acquire whatever it is your community needs to survive. But things aren't quite as good as they might apear. For during your mission, you uncover evidence of a sinister plot that threatens the entirety of re-emergent civilization in the wasteland.

But not to fear! You infiltrate and destroy the perpetrators of this evil, and your deeds are recorded in the annals of history!

What do you all think?
Any chance Interplay might do something along these lines?

Hah! Interplay would never use such a boring idea, I mean, they will probably just use some kind of basic adaptation of previous storylines, not something so radical as that, sheesh :)

Actually, in a very broad sense...it's EXACTLY the first two games. And just about every other RPG out there too.
