Possible crash fix

First time out of the vault
New guy here. Longtime Fallout 2 player. After installing a new video card Fallout 2 restoration project 1.2 would crash on the map with the memory exception error memory xxxxx cannot find xxxxx Fallout 2 exe. After some tinkering with the direct draw ini I found turning off the advanced scripting option In the Fallout 2 part of the direct draw ini file solved the problem. Just change from 1 to 0.Only one crash in 15 hours of play and none on the map now. Just my 2 cents.

What is *the* map?

Turning off advanced scripting in ddraw.ini will disable many of the new features in the RP. You should not do this.

Please give me more information about your setup. Version of windows, version of the RP, how you installed it, etc.

Hello. I'm running XP home. Rig is 2.4 ghz Pent 4. 2 gigs of ram. card is Ati x850 xt. Installed restoration project 1.2 . Tried installer version and manual install with same results. It would crash on the world map with both versions with the memory exception error

Ah, the world map. Okay, sfall is definitely at fault here. Not sure why it would crash though. Is there any chance I can get you to go here and download "Fallout 2 v1.02 US (v1.42, for windows 2000/xp/vista)" ? When you extract it, only copy over the ddraw.dll file and replace the one in your F2 directory (do not copy over the .ini file). Now, re-enable the advanced scripting options in the ini file.

Let me know what happens.

Very good. Replaced that dll , enabled scipt extender and continued game. Now no errors on the world map so far. Does the game need to be restarted for the new content? Thanks for the help.
