Possible to have limbs removed and keep them alive?

Hobo In A Box

First time out of the vault
They have already gone over the limit with silly gore, why not make it so if they lose an arm or a leg they will still try to kill or try run away, nothing like having a hunt on someone trying to escape.

Yes, but very complicated and messes up animations.

(This is something that's doable with shaders)

Had an idea on this.. based on another thread,

What the modder Cipsis said..

One idea I've had is to make a glove that basically consists of a missing finger "plug". That way, I could simply force the glove to be equipped after the finger has been taken. Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether or not equipment can be flagged as "unplayable" in Fallout 3, so this method would probably have drawbacks of its own, but it's definitely preferable to destroying the arm entirely.

I assume the same method could be used for removing the ear. Although it would cause any glasses/gloves etc. to be removed, I suppose you'd remove them anyway before you took their ear/finger, so it makes sense.

Got me thinking..

If we could use a large amount of model-index to equip armors that appear on the body.. we could make models of bodies with different parts missing, and make an armor out of them.
Then have a script detect when these pieces would normally go missing.. and equip this "armor", replacing the body part with a modified looking bodypart.

Ie: if you lost a leg, it would equip an armor that made it look like you're missing a leg or such.. then spawn and send a gibbed leg flying off.

Would have to have these armors invisible in inventories/corpses/containers..

etc

Hard part after all that would be getting the npcs/pc to animate and move based on missing limbs.. ie you wouldn't run around on two legs if you were missing one *(unless of course you have more than two legs to start with?).
