Why has this not been made. I know Dead Rising was pretty close, but I'm talking the size of Liberty City in Gta 4, filled with Zombies and pockets of resistance and you choose your path. The game would have to have more weapons than Gta of course because sometimes you have to kill a zombie with a screwdriver because there is nothing else around.
Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no modern game like this right? Questions,comments,discuss....... (:=o

It would be a cool idea for an action-rpg actually...Pockets of resistance well-hidden here and there. NO fast travelling at all but very few vehicules for certain missions. Plenty of quests/missions to choose from, several factions and, off-course, online coop with up to 24 players ( not more because it would turn into a dumb hack n slash ).

I hope that Dead Rising 2 incorporates those features.

I loved that game, it was the only game that didn't make me regret receiving an Xbox 360.

I also liked how unforgiving it was, I can't tell you how many times I got killed by the convicts in the central park area while trying to save that lady trapped in there...

I want to have your fucking babies. That is so fucking awesome. It pretty much sums up what I want in the game, except in a third-person/Isometric view with modern graphics. A lot slower pace I think too.

It just seems so cool to me. I've been thinking about a game like this for years. It would be awesome to reinforce windows and doors, gather supplies, learn skills, and manage a large group of survivors. I would like it to be open ended to where you don't have to quit playing the game. You just have to live kinda like Sims.Of course there would be a story option too.
I don't know if anyone has ever read the Walking Dead, but that is a perfect example. Dead Rising is one of three games I own for 360 like someone said earlier ; thats the only reason I kept the 360. Hopefully Dead Rising 2 will be closer to this indie game that I'm about to go play.

I haven't been following it very intensely, but I don't think Left for Dead is particularly sandbox-y.
Isn't it more of a romp from point A to point B, possibly with alternative paths here and there?

Yeah "left 4 dead" is pretty much a straight foreward shooter where it's you and three buddies vs the zombies. The cool thing about it is that the game's A.I. is so dynamic, itll spawn more tougher enemies if you party is in good shape and has been playing well together and lesser baddies when your party is really slacking off. From what I understand this just happens when you party has to fight its way into one of the safehouses in the game where you can collect some ammo and health items. It DOES look like a really fun action game though.
