Here's what I seem to aim for.

1: Medic with a pistol. Always uses a pistol, and whatever one is the best. Medics don't tend to have alot of Perception anyway (Stitch has a 4). Second Hand uses Stimpacks or a MedKit.

2: Heavy Gunner. Uses whatever is the best Heavy Weapon at the time. Second Hand uses a rocket launcher.

3: Front-liner. Uses whatever is the best Shotgun at the time. Second Hand uses grenades.

4: Sniper. Uses whatever is the most damaging, longest-ranged weapon. Inevitably this is the Sniper Rifle. Second Hand is used for this person's Special Purpose.

5: Strafer. Uses the best automatic Small Arms weapon available. Later, depending on who is your Strafer, a Heavy Gun could be substituted. Second Hand is used for this person's Special Purpose.

6: Optional. Typically this ends up being someone specialized, such as a melee attacker, or a Deathclaw, or someone using energy weapons. Second Hand is used for this person's Special Purpose.

Special Purpose is someone's tagged skill that uses an item to help out. This would be Lockpick, Repair, and First Aid/Doctor.

NOTE: I tend to use Stitch as my Medic, and since he can't ever get Healer (which would make him way better with Medkits and D-bags) as a perk, I usually let his Second Hand use Stimpacks, and let someone else use the Medkits (Stitch can still keep the D-bags though...they're mainly used to get rid of Bandaged and to fix crippled limbs anyway, medkits are just as good at HP healing). The person whose Special Purpose is First Aid must be someone who can pick Healer as a perk or this isn't that useful of a Special Purpose.

I also tend to make my Front-liner be the one with Traps skills...since they're typically in the lead of my formation, this lets them find traps and mines before I step on them.

For some reason, I usually make the person with Repair also be the person with Pilot...whether both are tagged skills or not doesn't matter, I just usually pair them up. Makes sense that a vehicle mechanic would be suited to be a good driver.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I tend to put alot of theives in my party. I don't know why. i like a sneaky party.:)

front man is the scout-good perception (9or10) and a good sneak ability at least in the 100% range. that way I can see where to position the rest of the men. The scout hardly ever participates in any other capasity.

the sniper- also has to have a high perception and a good small guns skill.

My main character is usually good with traps, locks and small guns, later I take tag and energyweapons. I always want to make sure I can unlock anything.

If I use anyone else they are usually just as pawns. (They will perish in their journy!) I like to take these guys in to the thick of the frey just to thin the numbers. If they get killed oh well, more where they came from.
