*The REAL Devil*

First time out of the vault
Im just wondering as usual, when you go into the preferences in all Fallout games there are "language filter" or something like that, so what does it do :?

And there are "combat messages" where you can chose "verbrose" or "brief" what do that do :?

"combat looks" you maybe think im stupid but what does it means :?

Game difficult and Combat difficult, does it relly changes anything :?

Firstly i think this is in the wrong forum and should have been in the general Fallout disscusion. For future posts...

Language filter allows you to filter out bad language through out the game but for me destroys the dialogue effects that you can have.

Combat messages...i'm not entirly sure what this does. At a guess it's the amount of description that you get when in combat. Like what happened, who got shot and so on but i could be wrong.

Game difficulty and combat difficulty do change how hard the game is to play. I'm not sure on the exact changes that occur when these options are changed but it is visibly harder in the game and during combat.

Mate..its not that your stupid!
Maybe if you read the forum titles you would know which one to post in.
As for the in game options, not every may understand these.

Remeber this valuable information, think before you post something.
It will help you wnders :)

EDIT: either this post has been moved or i have made a terrible mistake due to a freak memory lapse.
If it is the second then sorry Devil, you did infact post this in the right forum and i was infact...actually i dont know where the hell i got the wrong forum idea from.

There's a list of bas words (I think it's called badwords.txt or something similarely simplistic) which when found replaces with the second word on the list. In case people are offended by them.

These are the messages that pop up every now and then saying "Ouch that hurts" or "You'll die for that, bitch" and whatnot. When you've read them 1000 times, it can get a bit boring. That and it often contains coarse language so by outting none it's like an extra language filter :). On top of it it could make the game maybe 1fps faster on a 486sx16 since it doesn't have to compute the random dialog nor render them!

When you hover over a creture it "looks" at it instead of having to click on it and select look.

The only thing I really noticed in "Game difficult" was that the books gave less skill points. There are plenty of other differences but I usually don't toy with it and leave it at normal so I never really looked into it. As for combat I'm guessing it makes the criticals less likely? I don't know really. But it does indeed have an effect on the game.

I'm pretty sure the combat messages differences are something like:

Verbose: "I'm gonna hang your head over my fireplace after I kill you, asshole."
Brief: "Ow"

You probably inferred this, but just in case.

Well, i think verbose gives messages in the text box thingumyjig on the bottom left like "**SOME RANDOM CREATURE** was hit in the groin with a sledgehammer for 20 HP's and is rolling around on the floor in agony" and brief is simply "**SOME RANDOM CREATURE** was hit in the groin for 20 HPs"

Im not really sure why this is but its probably so the stuffs easier to wade through if you missed something.
