I was reading below that you need to activate a security system...

I can't find any such system. Mind you I didn't know that there
was supposed to be one.

Anyone give me a hand with this?

Thanks,

You'll find a room on the far right of the building with nothing but a switch on the right wall. The room has 4 doors that automatically open when you approach them. Just flip the switch.

There are two switches in this map, both that modify the security system (specifically the turrets and doors). The first switch you encounter is on the east side of the room with the auto doors (the set of two doors that open when a person is near), and when that switch is activated, the doors will open, and you will hear over the loudspeaker that internal security has been activated. The turrets through the doors will be online, but because of apparent malfunctions, they can only stay surfaced and active in bursts. Simply go prone behind some junk, and rush past the two turrets when they are down. Be sure to have your close combat squad member(s) in front, because there are radscropions directly past the turrets. After fighting through the second third of the base, making sure to dodge turrets in a similar manner to the first two, you should come across another switch in a similarly looking room. This switch opens the doors in front of you, and diverts power from the internal turrets to the surface turrets (bad news for the tribals). If you want to execute this mission properly, position one man by the switch, and when the doors open, rush the rest of your squad through, and then have your man divert power back to the internal turrets. This means you have to dodge more turret fire, but at least the tribals stay happy. Hope all of this helps.

This was sort of trippy. I hit the second switch that sent power to the surface turrets, heard what it did, and quickly deactived the surface turrets again. Figuring I *might* be able to protect the surface tribals, I sent everyone except my worst shooter to the surface and positioned them around the three turrets. I then entered combat mode (playing Individual Turn Based combat, since the CTB mode sucks), and had my one character flip the switch again. The surface turrets never did come up. Dunno if this is a bug (probably) or not, but I stayed in combat mode and had two of my characters clear out the remaining area downstairs.

Whoever designed this mission needs a swift kick in the butt, because it was not very fun. Sneaking around sounds sort of fun, but when you get a chracter killed almost every time you're spotted, it isn't very cool.

Must be why it's called tactics, I didn't loose anyone here ever... are you playing on insane level or something?

No, it was on normal difficulty, and after saving and reloading at most of the turret battles, I managed to get through without losing anyone. But like I said, it wasn't very fun. With each battle taking 20 minutes of firing shot after shot... At least I got some good Exp. for killing all of those turrets. :)

I'm blown away by how many people are saying they spent hours and hours taking out those turrets. You're not "supposed" to kill the turrets, at least not this early in the game, when you're severely under-powered. My advice is to just run by them when they're down. Problem solved.

Now, I say "supposed" to, cuz that's what Fallout Tactics is all about, unfortunately. Doing exactly what the designers had in mind. That kind of backwards game design is outdated, and is one of the main reasons I don't care for this game.

Anyways, off I go, more FO2 for me ;-)

My 2 Cents... and the quick&easy way

Well, the things actually give shitty EXP (7 points for a turret, crap eh?), but they come with about 600 of the large fusion cells apiece, so you can store up on energy weapon ammo for later in the game, or you can just sell it (I hope the stuff's expensive, didn't compl. mission yet).

And I have found a quick and easy way to blow up the damn things. Took me an hour to blow up first one, I thought "WTF" so I immediately decided to use... a more devious method.

Set combat mode to CTB, get guys within bare 95% range, maybe a BIT less for cover, then set em ALL to aggressive, line em up (don't even need cover if they are crouched) and let em loose. Takes about 4-5 minutes with turret popping up, getting gunned down, going down, then popping up again for a long time before the bastard thing explodes. The turrets ARE true bitches, but if the large fusion cells are worth a lot of scrip I suppose I might start liking them turrets. Only thing I'm scared of is a group of three turrets I see ahead of me. Scaring the shit out of me, the things, I have to put Shotgun Doc behind all my guys and keep healing Farsight coz she soaks up all the damage for some reason.

P.S. the fantasy ball is cool!
