previous saved games dont show up on fresh install

I was about 12 hrs in and had to wipe computer I had my saves on, I backed them up but now when I load up the game it does not recognize the saves that are in the save directory , any ideas?

My saved character creation info works fine (.GCD), just not the saves.
 
Operating System? Location of the game folder? Location of the savegame folder? Version of the game?
 
Thanks for the reply, heres my stats.

Operating System: windows vista premium SP2--current
( saves were from a WIN XP HOME SP2 comp)

Location of the game folder:
C:/Program Files (x86) / Interplay / Fallout

Location of the savegame folders:
C:/Program Files (x86) / Interplay / Fallout /SLOT 1
C:/Program Files (x86) / Interplay / Fallout /SLOT 2

....etc

Version of the game: US Ver 1.2
 
It should look more like this...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Interplay\Fallout\DATA\SAVEGAME\SLOT01
C:\Program Files (x86)\Interplay\Fallout\DATA\SAVEGAME\SLOT02
etc...
 
thanks , that did work but now have another problem , it won't let me save the game.

Now my directory looks like this one.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Interplay\Fallout\DATA\SAVEGAME\SLOT01

etc.

Loads fine , but when i go to save it tells me save game error.
 
Maybe your save slots are write protected, could have happened when you moved them around. So chek it and remove it if they are.
If that's not the case, install fallout somehere else than in the programs folder and try the saves again.
 
Don't ever install Fallout 1 or 2 in Program Files*, it often leads to problems like this. The Program Files folder is one of the folders that is protected by some versions of Windows (Vista+, not sure about XP) and old programs can have issues with that. Not being able to save games is one of them.


*Someone should really make a sticky thread with that as title in every game-related board.
