Probably a buffoonish question (about in-combat movement)...

Haven't found any discussion of this, so here goes.

I just picked this game up and started the 1st mission; I find the movement system incredibly frustrating and baffling, and am wondering if this is a bug, a problem nobody else has, or just something that everyone else is cool with. I am using turn-based mode (individual), and here's what happens...

Let's say I have 10 action points. I highlight a patch of ground and it says, for example, 8 -- so OK, I should be able to get there. I see no obstacles of any kind in my path (maybe some ground clutter that looks like graphic embellishment, but certainly not an obstacle). I click there and... the result is variable. Sometimes the character spins but does not move at all. Most often he moves some portion of the distance and stops. Occasionally he gets to where i pointed. (This is rare.)

After this initial movement "try", I can't move any more, despite having many free action points remaining. It's as if the character gets stuck on an invisible pebble and throws a tantrum, refusing to move any further.

Any input would be appreciated.
 
I'll follow up my own question with an answer... The problem strangely disappeared on a subsequent play of the game. Not sure what the deal was.
 
I am of course, still having this issue, nothing I do seems to fix it. I upgraded to 1.27.
 
I had this problem as well. There is an optiobn to reserve enough action points for a shot if you alt click on your destination. I ran into this problem when I alt-tabbed out of FOT. I didn't find a way to get it to turn off without restarting the game.

Not sure if it matters, but I'm running it in Vista.
 
It does matter, we experienced this on-site, while playing LAN multiplayer yesterday. I have windows XP and my mate runs Vista, we both had switched out with alt+tab, and mine game was working fine while his got stuck on the alt+click mode so his chars were stopping movement to have enough points to shoot with current weapon. It happens only on vista after alt+tabbing and It seems simply hitting alt removes the problem.
