Problem with car and vault 13

First time out of the vault
Hi, I have this stupid and annoying problem in Fallout 2:

I finally got around to getting the car, and so I drove off to pick up an NPC at vault 13. I chose to enter the vault directly, quicksaved a couple of times(I save way to often). When I got to the cave-entrance I discovered that I can only see the trunk of the car, I cant click on the car itself, it simply ins't there, maybe because there isn't enough room because of the mountain/cliffs. If I try to leave on foot, the party wont bring the car. I have no saving points, except way back before I got the car, and before completing a couple of missions.

Does anybody know of away to solve this, so that I can get into the car, bring it along etc.?
 
That's a known bug of the release version.

Have you installed the official 1.02 patch?

If not you really should consider it, problem is your saves wont work after patching so you'll have to start over again.

or you could install Killap's unofficial patch which fixes a lot of bugs left from 1.02 or the Restoration Mod which adds new content that was supposed to be in the game, again your saves won't work with either of those mods
